Limit Hold 'Em: Second nuts on river

I tried posting this early and then it didn't show up...I apologize if it ends up here twice.

This is pretty close to the last one I posted, but slightly different. I wasn't directly involved, but I'll write it as if I were from the point of view I'm wondering about. The other player in question has been at the table less than a full orbit, so I know very little about him.

$8-16 Limit Hold Em. 8-handed and first to act raises. "I" am next and 3-bet w/ AA. Folds around and he calls. Flop is K-8-6. He bets, I raise, he calls. Turn is an Ace, he check-raises and calls my 3-bet. River is another King. He check-raises again and I 3-bet, of course.

Now...the question is how many bets do I go before I just call when I have the second nuts on this board/action? I have about 15 big bets left after the turn action. Do I go to the felt? Stop somewhere before that?

It's probable that he's holding 88 or 66 here and I would go to the felt. With KK, you'd think that he'd 4-bet pre-flop (I know I would). But then again people are retards, so who knows? Unless you feel like playing the rest of the night with 15 BB's, you might as well go for it.

It's a limit game, so I don't see how 15 big bets is a problem. At all. And it's one of those crazy cash games where you can buy chips if you want more. So at this point, 88 and 66 are definitely in the running. AK seems super likely. And KK. I don't think we can put him on anything else. So yeah, we get it all-in if it all happens in one or two moments like a No Limit game. But can't we use the information of his 4-bet...then his 6-bet...then his 8-bet...then his 10-bet....then his 12-bet, etc..........Or do we have to keep raising back just because 88, 66, and AK are in his range at the check-raise on the river?

And as a bit of an aside...I know lots of people who will raise and just call a 3-bet regardless of their hand if it's already heads up. Some do it always, some depending on opponent, and for various reasons.

I think it's a 'play the player' situation and do whatever you can to get his chips in that pot. Keep firing away if that's what it takes and accept the risk of him holding KK. Given his check-raise on the turn, he sure as hell does not have you on AA.

Although it's possible he's capable of observing the 1-2-3-4-5, etc actions I make after that and using those rather than stopping at some point in the hand.

Maybe. I still think you have him beat and need to leech out as many chips as possible.
