Eh. I wouldn't call him #1 just yet even if he wins. Elway won 2 SB's and went to 5 with a much worse supporting cast than Manning ever had. The Broncos teams in the late 80's were pretty much a one-man show.

Have to agree, Manning has a super supporting cast; poss he's made them super but been found wanting a couple times at the crunch, lost the crucial games.

I went back and looked and I would not say that Elway had a worse supporting cast. And going to 5 super bowls and only winning 2 is not a very good supporting statement. If it was then Jim Kelly would be a god. I think Marino was better than Manning as a pure passer. Staubach was a better field general, and Young was a better all around quarterback. Unitas was before my time, but I so not think it is fair to compare players from that generation. But if we are adding everything together and if he wins this weekend i feel it would make him the best ever.

I'm tired of people using the fact that Elway lost three Super Bowls as evidence that he sucked. He MADE it there... that's hard enough. Would he be a better QB if he won his two Super Bowls and got bounced out of the playoffs three times in the 80's instead? Of course not. I'm also not sure to whom you're comparing the 80's Broncos. There wasn't an above average RB (with the POSSIBLE exception of one year with Bobby Humphrey) on those teams, no terrific receivers, an OK defense, and a crappy line.

Bad stat for Manning... his career postseason record is 9-9. Not good.

I agree that Dan Marino was a better pure thrower than Elway, but he was also stuck on some pretty mediocre teams. Elway has the edge because he was the second-best ever at making plays on his own next Steve Young. Marino was a statue.

Try sorting it by the different columns and you'll see some pretty good arguments for different QB's.

Yeah! Thanks! I like that chart!!!

A good case could be made for Bart Starr based on that.

I guess before we name a elite list for qb's we need to know what the rules are. Is it winning, stats or something else?
