    What do you think?

    H
offa, the Teamsters president, was warming up a Detroit crowd when he said: “President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son of a bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong.”

Biden, whose mouth has long been a liability for Obama, was at an AFL-CIO rally when he told union members: “You are the only folks keeping the barbarians from the gates…the other side has declared war on labour’s house.”
The difference, of course, is that they were uttered publicly by someone chosen by the White House to introduce Obama and by the sitting vice-president at a time when Obama is calling for a bipartisan coming together to tackle the economy. To add to their foolishness, they follow on from Obama’s sensible call in January for “civility” in public discourse and for people to talk “in a way that heals, not a way that wounds”.

But will Obama have the political and moral courage to repudiate a powerful union boss and his own vice-president?

Still laughing, almost burst a gut when he said, " we are going to see if there are some straight shooters in Congress" , talking about the bill he is proposing and wants passed. That would indicate to me he thinks he is a "straight shooter" Also would indicate he thinks the Democrats are straight shooters and Republicans are not. Same old political bullshit from both parties.

Will Barack Obama condemn Joe Biden and Jimmy Hoffa for calling Republicans 'barbarians' (Let's not forget 'terrorists') and 'son of a bitches' ?"Absolutely not. He's already said that he was proud of Hoffa*, but whenever mr. Obama is speaking out of the other side of his mouth, constantly admonishes Conservatives and Republicans to end hate-filled rhetoric, divisivness, and partisan rancor.Barack Obama's likeness will never be rendered on the face of Mount Rushmore. That's because there's hardly room for ONE more face, and by no means is there any room for two.
I'd like to take credit for that last sentence but can't- was on Telegraph website.

    What do I think?

Certainly not the bull shit that Faux News and the Koch Bros. so easily brainwash the teabaggers into thinking.

Geoff, I think you need to listen to, or read, the entire speach and not just the right-wing edit.

    For the record...

Ever wonder why the politicians hated the Senior Hoffa and now Jr. It's because they have power ... money is power in America so if Hoffa calls you a son of a bitch count out the teamsters for a nice donation ..

frank, this sort of flawed logic has all the credibility of a couple first graders screaming "but he/she started it"

everyone has to be responsible for their own actions. the negative behavior of others does not justify our own negative behavior. how simple is that?

I have no more sympathy for anyone.

The teabaggers wanna yell and scream about "God & guns" and make threats then they better learn that they can be "targeted" just as easily!

my point is, the right says the left uses all the hateful, violent rhetoric, the left says the right is hateful and violent.

just curious, when was the last time you called out obama or anyone in his administration or their cronies for talking shit?? they have center stage and their actions set the tone.

Civility for Me, But Not for Thee

President Obama delivered his loviest speech as president in Tucson, Ariz., after the shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords. It was moving, pitch perfect and -- in its key passages calling for civility in our political discourse -- brazenly insincere.

Obama said we should be sure that “we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.” He framed his call as a way to honor the victims of the Tucson tragedy: “Only a more civil and honest public discourse can help us face up to our challenges as a nation, in a way that would make them proud.”
When he extolled civility nine months ago, President Obama didn’t count on his political base becoming more enraged than ever, or on his own desperation as president of a country with 9.1 percent unemployment. The most elemental act of civility is assuming the sincerity and patriotism of your opposition. President Obama’s latest theme is that Republicans are putting party before country in opposing his program, an argument that implicitly rules out the possibility that they genuinely think his policies are foolhardy and worthy of opposition. It’s a kidney punch masked as high-mindedness.

Unless the economy rebounds suddenly, Obama will be left with only one option next year -- winning ugly. He will have to make his opponent even more unacceptable than he is, and if the past is any guide, he’ll do it without scruple.
like i said, the guy on center stage sets the tone. sure there are plenty of bomb throwers on the right, but with obama leading and the union's thug mentality along with the extremist comments from various "rights" groups and the environmental movement, the left can not claim innocence or even that the other guy started it.
