Agreed CC. But in fairness...did you or anyone catch Obama & Biden after Biden's speech at the convention the other night? "The Ass Kissin' Festival" was embarrassing! Obama thanked or should I say "name dropped" every Democrat registered to the party! The beak is definitely dark umber!

the same wrong and superficial reasons that helped Obama get the democratic nomination?? i think "superficial" is a word Obama supporters should stay away from

Palin has quite a record in Alaska...she got elected governor largely because she went after REPUBLICANS for ethics violations...

She resigned in January 2004 as head of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after complaining to the office of Governor Frank Murkowski and to state Attorney General Gregg Renkes about ethical violations by another commissioner, Randy Ruedrich, who was also Republican state chairman.

State law barred Palin from speaking out publicly about ethical violations and corruption.
In 2005, she continued to take on the Republican establishment by joining Eric Croft, a Democrat, in lodging an ethics complaint against Renkes, who was not only attorney general but also a long-time adviser and campaign manager for Murkowski. The governor reprimanded Renkes and said the case was closed. It wasn't. Renkes resigned a few weeks later, and Palin was again hailed as a hero.
The wipeout in the 2006 election left Republicans in such a state of dejection that they've overlooked the one shining victory in which a Republican star was born. The triumph came in Alaska where Sarah Palin, a politician of eye-popping integrity, was elected governor. She is now the most popular governor in America, with an approval rating in the 90s, and probably the most popular public official in any state.

Her rise is a great (and rare) story of how adherence to principle--especially to transparency and accountability in government--can produce political success.

"SWEET PICK! KUDOS TO MCCAIN FOR CHOOSING SARAH PALIN FOR HIS VP

By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

McCain has reached for the stars and grabbed one. On a recent cruise to Alaska, I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Sarah Palin. She is brilliant and articulate and, in Alaska politics, is a breath of fresh air as an alternative to their corruption epitomized by Alaska Republican Senator Ted Stevens. Now Obama, who has spent two years preventing a woman from being president, will spend two months preventing one from becoming vice president -- and hopes to do so with women votes. The entire premise of the Democratic convention was the fungibility of Bush and McCain. Now McCain has vividly demonstrated the difference. Sarah Palin is no Dick Cheney!"

    fungibility

    i like that word

being of such a nature that one part or quantity may be replaced by another equal part or quantity in the satisfaction of an obligation
and for the record, the claim does not really hold water...

Morris also points out a series of important issues on which Bush and McCain did not agree:

    * McCain fought for campaign finance reform — McCain-Feingold — that Bush resisted and ultimately signed because he had no choice.
    * McCain led the battle to restrict interrogation techniques of terror suspects and to ban torture.
    * McCain went with Joe Lieberman on a tough measure to curb climate change, something Bush denies is going on.
    * McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts when they passed.
    * McCain urged the Iraq surge, a posture Bush rejected for years before conceding its wisdom.
    * McCain favors FDA regulation of tobacco and sponsored legislation to that effect, a position all but a handful of Republican senators oppose.
    * McCain's energy bill, also with Lieberman, is a virtual blueprint for energy independence and development of alternate sources.
    * After the Enron scandal, McCain introduced sweeping reforms in corporate governance and legislation to guarantee pensions and prohibit golden parachutes for executives. Bush opposed McCain's changes and the watered-down Sarbanes-Oxley bill eventuated.
    * McCain has been harshly critical of congressional overspending, particularly of budgetary earmarks, a position Bush only lately adopted (after the Democrats took over Congress).

As far as the 'superficiality' factor goes (in the grand scheme of things,) everything and everyone OTHER then Barak and his ideas wins hands down.

He is imo...way more complex and interesting then any other yahoo
on the political stage right now.

Beating Hillary on substance and verve isn't superficial...it's dog gone
    real and astounding!!

If he can overcome the superficiality of the populace and take this thing
he'll keep the 'super' and ram the 'ficiality' up the neo-con's tired asses!

He reached for the 'fluff' and bs to pander to his base!

The mere fact that McCain went for a woman for superficial reasons
because it is topical these days shows the small mindedness and
bush league choice making he is capable of.
(As if he really wanted her on the ticket)

You have wallowed in the stink which is 'Right Wing' for 8 years.
You have watched as your leaders gauged, lied and cheated you.

Now, because a same ol' same ol' con picks a nice looking gal with
an predictable and extremist agenda, you're going to continue the madness.

    Good luck with that!!
