Arizona's unemployment rate declines in October

Arizona's unemployment rate is down slightly with the addition of new jobs throughout most of the economy but particularly in health care, retail and construction.
The Department of Administration reports that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October was 9.0 percent, down a tenth of a percentage point from 9.1 percent in September.
Arizona's economy added 15,500 nonfarm jobs in October, with 80 percent of those in the private sector as 10 of the 11 major economic sectors posted gains.
The sector with the biggest gain was education and health services, which added 3,900 jobs.
The next-biggest gainer was the trade, transportation and utilities sector. It added 3,000 jobs.
Construction added 2,300 jobs in October for the eighth straight month of gains in that long-depressed sector.
