Abortion is not illegal. So shooting a abortionist would be murder. I don't like capital punishment but I can't kill the executioner with impunity. If someone is murdered in my family (and was) I cannot kill my brothers killer even though I sometimes wish I could do and all the time not wanting death for his murderer who was caught.

MF took the mickey stating the unborn child killed the abortionist... that is in fact the only self defence. New terminology is needed. I think Nikki touched on the subject about not murdering the murderer. An abortionist is a legal "executioner" and if it was to become legal to execute executioners then America's death row would have to cease to exist as no-one would take on the role.

It's not self defense, but defense of others. It's not done in revenge, but to stop future killings. I'm not saying it's legal, I'm saying there is an argument for it. If you believe the fetus to be a human life and the abortionist a murderer, then killing him as necessary to prevent further killings, serial killings even, could be considered justifiable. But . . . .

In the United States, the 2005 Unborn Victims of Violence Act defined human fetuses as "unborn children" for the first time, recognizing all fetuses as equal holders of general human rights and formally defining feticide as murder (under USC §1111). However, the law retained explicit exceptions which prohibit the prosecution "of any person for conduct relating to an abortion," "of any person for any medical treatment," or "of any woman with respect to her unborn child," thereby preserving abortion rights in the United States under a justifiable homicide framework.

I was just arguing the point of your chosen words ie self-defence. Then likened an executioner to an abortionist: both people doing a duty (acting out on someone else's authority) which entails the snuffing out of a life.

If I get embroiled in the subject matter itself ermmmm God help you lot

This was a country ruled on law. No one has the rigth to take another persons life with Judges order from a court where that person was judged guilty. The exception is the president has the authority granted him from congress to have certain people judged to be a harm to our interest.

I don't think Curt was actually expressing his own opinion... I maybe wrong; just like I wasn't expressing mine (cos then we would be back to the "if pro-lifers don't want abortion as an option how come many agree with the death penalty?", and haven't we done that issue to death? *)

Even if that person is an American citizen who has been not been charged of any crime. Nice to be king.

Been this way since the whole thing started hundreds if not thousands of years ago, it really hasn't changed much.

Excusing away state murder, with a healthy dose of political cynicism. Perfect!

No fence to high for sky to set on ... that's why he took up jumping out of airplanes.

I don't know about Chris ... this country has been killing the innocent before it was a Nation. I didn't support the war on terror and still don't however the simple fact is, not only are we spying on our citizens without reason the president under these unique powers has the right to kill terrorist because we declared war on terrorism regardless if you are American or not.

If you don't like the law the next time we have an event like 9-11, please sit back and take a breath and think about wrapping yourself in the flag and giving up your rights ....
