If you knew anything about the genesis of the democrat party from giving into the Dixicrats to moving on to supporting civil rights ... it would simply amaze you.

The Republicans tired of losing in the South actively recruited the Dixiecrat's to switch parties because the Democrat party was in fact switching to supporting civil rights. This active recruitment was known as "The Southern Strategy."

As we all know (cept you ) the Southern Republicans and their new found turn ( thankfully) coat .. racist democrats now voting and supporting the racism of their new found alliance.

The Southern Strategy worked getting Richard Nixon elected when LBJ refused to run after his lie about the Gulf of Tonkin. The Southern Strategy worked getting Reagan elected off the votes of the ignorant racist Southern Baptist Church.

Had the democrat party not separate from the Dixiecrats the civil rights movement would have been put on hold until and Nixon and Reagan never would have been elected.

That's the price democrats and Americans in general paid to undo the wrongs and get civil rights legislation passed .. And the crazy Southern Baptist are still in the background running the show. As most know I consider myself a Independent voter. I voted for Reagan, Bush Sr and Bush Jr. I have also voted for Clinton, and Obama this last election. I already know I will be voting for Obama in the next election, for I believe the Republicans have been screwing the pooch!! btw, i have my preferences and they are based on shortcomings i see or ideological differences i have with each candidate. but all of them rate higher than a guy who wants to level the playing field by dragging the top to the bottom instead of lifting the bottom to the top in a sustainable way.
