I thought that Rick Perry and the rest of Texas didn't need the rest of the U.S., and in fact even wanted to secede from the Union?

Now I could really rub this in the face of Texans that have said time and time again that the Federal Government needs to just stay out of their lives, and make fun of how hypocritical this is. However, I'm taking a different stance on this one...

As a "Liberal", I think we need to help out in any way that we can. There are human beings, fellow Americans, that right now are losing everything, including their lives. Left/Right, Democrat/Republican, Liberal/Concervative, rich/poor makes no difference, people are now in need of help, and to do so is the right thing to do.(or maybe it's the "Left" thing to do. LOL)

Sorry Geoff but you're making less and less sense lately. I have no idea what you're asking or talking about here. Are you condemming me for wanting to help out people that have said time and time again that they don't need help? The only reason I quoted that website is because it was the first story I ran acrossed. It doesn't have anything to do with people that need help.

As many of you may know I have a Nephew who is a wild land fire fighter and now is on the fires in Texas. He makes about 22 per hour before overtime. After 2 weeks or so on the job they must rotate and rest then they can come back. He is making thousands in his rotation then while they rest they get room and food and their base wage.

As Texas burns he earns .. Ooh ... the irony.

why all the hate?? moab seems gleeful at at the misfortune of others and frank despite his liberal caring just had to question why we should be seeking help.

sometimes i really do think the state of texas would be better off on it's own. more individuals and business already moving here, imagine what it would be if we didn't have to deal with the feds ;-)

however, the reality is that we are the UNITED states, and the liberals that want the "rich" to support the poor should have no problem with aid going out wherever it's needed. otherwise next time there is an earthquake or hurricane or other disaster we have to start saying "fuck off" to victims who have assets or income above a certain level. isn't that really what this thread is about?? that if not for the needs of individuals the feds should say "fuck off" to the state of texas??

****.. I'm not gleeful. I'm glad for the young man, that's his life he a person with ADD and working fires is the perfect job for that type. Just a few years earlier he was on those California fires where a crew he was working with died in a helicopter accident. He's as proud as anyone can be especially when he saves someones home and or property...
