Should Divorce be Illegal?

oh that's also the reason I haven't been baptised, thought long and had about it a few years ago but was unable to make statements I wasn't certain about. I believe in a supreme power (don't hold yr breath Greg not you) but I'm not Christian although I believe the spirit of God flows through the Bible.

Over the past couple of years religious conservatives(I hope it's not demeaning to call them that Nicci ) have fought against allowing gay marriage. Their biggest arguments are that...

1. It's wrong in the eyes of God, and condemed in the Bible.

2. It's a threat to "traditional" marriage.

And 3. It's harmful and unfair to the children that may be involved.


Now if that's the case...

1. Divorce is wrong in the eyes of God and condemed in the Bible.

So my question is... Why are the religious conservatives fighting so hard to uphold "some" of their "values" and not "all" of them?

Your first statement *conservative christian* doesn't offend me at all. It's the last part that's ridiculous because you put quotes around them as if to imply something bad. This kind of bullshit is annoying, and quite frankly, getting rather old. That statement can be said numerous ways without the bad implication behind them. I don't do that to your beliefs, and I have repeatedly asked that you, and others, don't as well. So much for a little thing called common courtesy.

Now, on to the point of the thread. I don't believe in divorce. I don't believe in gay marriage. However, I am all for whatever makes people happy. If that means you are gay and would like to get married, I will support your decision. If that means you need a divorce for whatever reason, I will support your decision. It's not up to me, and it certainly shouldn't be up to the government, to decide whether or not you can get married or get a divorce.

So....I hope that answers your questions.

I like Billy's take to it. I am married but i do not believe in marriage. I love my wife and i do not need a piece of paper to tell me so. Its hard to believe in something when the failure rate is over 50 percent. They need to change the wedding vow that says till death do you part to till you get tired of each other.

The government should stay the hell out of it!!! Divorce sure beats shooting your spouse!!! Thats a joke in case some one is offended by that statement. And yep, iI have been divorced. There is a saying which I believer, there is nothing like marriage if you have the right one, and there is nothing like marriage if you have the wrong one!!!
