I can understand 90% of US citizens paying taxes in order to help 10% that are having temporary troubles, or have been disabled. That's lending a helping hand where it's needed and when it's needed.

The number stated that receive any portion of their support from from welfare assistance...including food stamps....it is 29,900,000 or roughly 8% of the total population in the United States.
This breaks down to:
39% white 11,661,000 of 29,900,000 recipients
38% black 11,362,000 of 29,900,000
17% Hispanic 5,083,000 of 29,900,000
As Social Security is paid in by anyone working if they receive SSI or Medicaid that's not welfare. We do after all pay for it and therefore is a benefit.
Over 50% of people in the US don't pay Federal taxes. If they earn money, they should be paying taxes. THAT'S fair. How much they pay, and if they should be paying more or less is simple negotiation.
Every one in America who works pays taxes .. they all pay Social Security .. they pay gas taxes they all pay any tax placed on purchases what they may not pay is a withholding tax because they after standard deductions make a income below the taxable income amount . So that sure must say a lot about America if 50% of the wage earners don't pay a withholding aka income tax. I bet if you ask that 50% if they made 50 thousand per year wold they mind paying after deductions 20 thousand for a take home of 30 thousand. or would they rather work for a take home of 15 thousand untaxed. Now those who don't work like our fucked up American veterans who are so brain damaged they live on the streets even pay taxes when they take their panhandelings and buy wine and a hot dog from Quike-Mart ..

First of all, you say "more in taxes" and "less in taxes" but what you really mean is "Higher percentage" and "lower percentage" . . . they are far from the same thing.
