I will not get into a pissing contest with you over ss and I know I don't have to explain what our veterans have done for us. I agree the younger generation will get short changed, these programs were designed to help elderly, the elderly rely on these programs and the younger generation will have to adjust to what our Government sets for them. The government should live up to what we promise the elderly, like we do every foreign country we send money to.

Why don't you just cut the compensations for all your politicians by 50%, you would be surprised how easy it is. Or just pay them according to their work and not how much time they waste?
    Aww cmon, I had a flushdraw ...

pissing match?? we agree in large part that we can't cut benefits to those who planned their retirement based on the inaccurate promises of the government. all i said was that we need to stop the false rhetoric that they are simply getting back what they paid.

How do you think that'll affect someone like me that's disabled and relies on nothing more than SSI, Medicaid, and food stamps to live? If there's no profit for them to make off of me, do you honestly think that they'd give a flying fuck about me?

When you discuss this kind of subject you have to realize that you're dealing with much more than just "numbers". You're dealing with real life, flesh and blood, human beings.
If the contributions and taxes you made into SSI were managed by a private business, you'd come out a lot better. Why? Because managing a business is profit motivated. You do a good job, you make a profit to keep your shareholders happy, and you provide a good service for your customers so you keep their business. It makes a business stay lean, efficient, and effective.

In private business, you have to balance your profit, with the price of your product. If the price is too high, you lose customers to competition, and then your lose your profits.

Where the fuck is the accountability of the bureaucracy running SSI, Medicaid, Medicare, and food stamps?

The bigger the bureaucracy, the more job security the bureaucrats have, the bigger their budget, and the more power they have. It's in their best interest to mismanage, waste their budget, and continue to grow. There's a famous saying in government. "If we don't use all the budget, they'll cut it next year. If we go over budget, we'll get more next year."

Sure, there's oversite, but that's just another bureaucracy trying to do the same thing.

If you privatize SSI, Medicaid, food stamps, etc. your letting the balance of business competition provide the best service for the money paid out. The better the business, the more they pay out, and the more they profit.

A voucher system for these services would create competition and allow taxpayers and contributors to get the most product for their money. They would be paying for slimmed down, efficient administration of these programs, rather than wasting their money on a bloated, inefficient bureaucracy that couldn't give a shit about the people they service.

It would be just like shopping for auto insurance. You weigh the service you receive with the cost and product you're buying. If you don't like your current auto coverage or your price, switch to a different one.

Right now you don't have a choice. You have to take what the government gives you, and hope that YOUR interests are the same as THEIRS.

Hell, I'd even throw in a government option there. If you don't trust private business, use your voucher for the governmental program. The only catch…. the governmental program has to make do with the vouchers they receive. No bail outs, no supplemental funds, no alternative funding. I wonder who would provide the best service for the money? The government, or the private businesses.

“We don't need new taxes. We need new taxpayers, people that are gainfully employed, making money and paying into the tax system. And then we need a government that has the discipline to take that additional revenue and use it to pay down the debt and never grow it again. And that's what we should be focused on, and that's what we're not focused on.

“So you look at all these taxes that are being proposed, and here's what I say. I say we should analyze every single one of them through the lens of job creation, issue number one in America. I want to know which one of these taxes that they're proposing will create jobs. I want to know how many jobs are going to be created by the plane tax? How many jobs are going to be created by the oil company tax that I heard so much about? How many jobs are created by going after the millionaires and billionaires the president talks about? I want to know: How many jobs do they create?

“Because I'll tell you, I have never met a job creator who told me that they were waiting for the next tax increase before they started growing their business. I've never met a single job creator who's ever said to me I can't wait until government raises taxes again so I can go out and create a job.
sounds like pretty solid logic to me
