This is probably another bad sign

U.S. debt overpowers National Debt Clock - CNN.com

George Bush inherited an annual budget surplus of $150M per year and is leaving us with an annual budget deficit of $500B per year.

George Bush inherited a national debt of $4.5T and is leaving us with a national debt of $10T.

George Bush inherited a strong and expanding financial system and is leaving us with an illiquid, frozen, wreck of a financial system.

How about this idea: We elect someone who disagrees with George Bush more than 90% of the time.

There are worse things than a credit crunch and recession.

This is probably a worse sign: Obama is leading in the polls.

Sure, because the Republicans have done such a rockin' awesome job running the show since 2000.

Last President to balance the budget: Bill Clinton, democrat
Times Reagan and the Bushes balanced the budget: 0
    Who's the real conservative here?

that being said, I've read an article with with an analyst of Wall Street (François Trahan ... who's he???) and he was saying we're going to be ok now and that finances and stock market are not doing fine because of a world recession ... nothing to do with US economy, he said ...

The debt clock is broken?!? How am I supposed to measure how much better off Canadians are than Americans if that key indicator is off the table?

Canada's federal government has been delivering balanced budgets for some time actually, although the Liberal, NDP, and Green Party plans noted in their current campaign promises all look to almost certainly run a deficit.

Alberta's provincial government is mandated by law to maintain a balanced budget and has been doing so since the mid-90s.

We don't have degenerate gamblers in charge of banks here in Canada.

We don't have secret societies ruling over us here in Canada.

We have pigs with lipstick here too, but not too many pit bulls with lipstick.

Our only single unifying theme up here is: Our love for beer.

We had a bit of good news with regards to our economic situation. Our government is bailing out the banks, nationalising them, taking 40% of shares and giving them 37 billion ($63.95 billion). Parts of Europe have done the same.
Finanacial experts have said it is good for the economy and it will see banks lending again. We shall see.

The markets are up rather nicely on this news. We'll see how it holds up and if the lending market gets back on its feet again.
