Fall in Baker City Oregon is beautiful but only a jumping off point for Karen and I.

For many years I've been going to Hells Canyon from Baker using Hells Canyon Highway and in all of those years never made it into the Eagle Cap wilderness area ... Well today I'm typing this from Bolder Creek campground ..

We .. our destination was the old movie site for Paint Your Wagon ... made it and was not in the least disappointed .. I saw the pit where the bull arena sunk and what's left of the cinder block that created the tunnels ... And the colors were to die for .. the trees were turning and the sumac was crimson red against the yellow and orange from cotton woods, poplar and oak's ...

Tomorrow if the weather holds we are climbing Sparta Butte.

I heard from a person who worked the movie site he was from Baker. A huge flood came down and tore out 50% of the site locations close to the river (creek) Like the cabin and fake road crossing where Ray Walston yells "what's a Mormons". I think you may be mistaken about Clint you were perhaps thinking about Lee and his rendition of "Wandering Star" Clint is a accomplished Jazz musician.

However it is one of my favorites second only to Cat Ballou
