    Is Pepsi trying to make a move on the Middle East market share?

    Is this a Rorschach test? Ignorance? Conspiracy? Or a marketing fuck up?

    Here's a couple of pictures of Pepsi cans produced from the Dubai Pepsi Bottling Plant. Different cans, different pictures, different locations, but produced at the same bottling plant. The Dubai plant services a goodly portion of the Middle East including Iraq. These cans starting hitting the market about the same time that the US troops were pulling out of Iraq.

    I can't attribute motive to the design or timing, and I don't think Pepsi has issued a statement yet, but they're in a fucked up place right now. Deny the motive and design, then pull the product and you piss off the Muslim consumers. Leave it, and piss off the US market.

    Should be an interesting show.

    This is what the can is trying to represent.

    The artist that drew up the image, added shorter buildings in front, and the airplane overhead, in order to "fill in the scene" and make it look more cosmopolitan. Unfortunately, that "artistic license" also changes the Dubai Towers into a strikingly similar image of the two towers.

    Like I mentioned at the beginning, is it a Rorschach test, Conspiracy, or Idiocy?
