Outrage as protesters pepper-sprayed at University of California

Tell that to Rodney king and the many of thousand people harasses yearly by the thugs wearing police uniforms. .

i'm no fan of the police as a general rule, and yes they do take their "authority" far too seriously, but these protest groups time and time again push the limits in hopes of getting something like this to happen so they can get exposure. Getting arrested is part of the plan in most of these types of protests and they wear it with a badge of honor. It's an exercise in futility and just a big pain in the ass, so if some of them get pepper sprayed I'm not bothered by it at all, maybe these types of protests will lose their appeal.

and as for the Rodney King incident, while I in no way am defending the excessive amount of baton swings, that video conveniently only shows the ass whooping and not the incidents that precipitated it.

As you stated in first part, no way! 20 odd students on campus have got more publicity in a day,than thousands in NY have achieved in a fortnight- and you think they'll now stop?

Now if you are so wise as to know the protesters are out to get arrested and that the majority of protesters are just there for the rush ... why not use some simple psychology and pander to the masses and sympathize with them ... drop your guns and talk to a small groups explain how you sympathize with'em tell you thank them for looking out for my interest ... But you gott'a get the troublemaker out of the crowd...

I am pretty sure I didn't say "I think they will stop now". What I said was it was my hope that the price of fame would get too high, as in is getting your name in the paper worth getting shot in the face with pepper spray?

I don't know what that means. He's not in custody until the handcuffs are on, and they weren't when he was getting his ass beat. Now if he gets pulled over drunk, and won't get out of the car, and when they pull him out of the car he spits in their faces, he deserved the ass whippin he got. Simple as that.

If they want to get arrested oblige them. Here is what I do know. I have been down to Seattle and seen the OWS movement first hand. It's the usual crowd. It isn't every day people, and it isn't the 99%. It's career college kids mostly, some street people who are occupying the streets already anyway, a few bearded ex-hippies . . . . I don't see any regular business folk, middle class working stiffs, etc. . . .

They won't stop as long as they are rare enough to be newsworthy. Only when they are so common that people don't notice (or get shocked) will they stop. That will be a sad day when people get inured to police brutality.

What that means is when cops have you on the ground hand cuffed or not and you are getting your as beaten you are protected by law from abuse and your civil rights are in play. You don't agree that obvious but the courts do and did by awarding him a settlement and cleared him of the charges ... Now I king because it represents the hundreds if not thousands of cases of police abuse that transpire annually in America some cases go un prosecuted and others do some of those that do become newsworthy.

Gee .. I've been to Seattle and Portland and here in Phoenix ... I see people out of work and students who will be tens of thousands in student loans ..

"I think" you see, like in the Vietnam protest a group of people you dislike fighting a system you like which in the end proved your side was wrong.

The protesters are at this point doing nothing to receive that sort of punishment just becase some cop doesn't agree with the movement ..
