Oil and Government .... Unions and Government ...

Would you be OK with the much hate VP Joe Biden, meeting in secret with ...
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa Jr., SEIU President Mary Kay Kelly. Would you be curious of the content of those secret meetings ..?

Would you be OK with the Unions being granted unlimited power to organize with Federal dollars. Federal dollars pay for by taxpayers. Would you be OK with too insure you never learn the context of the meeting, President Obama were to enjoy placing a secret classification on the meeting and no disclosure ...

Are you good with that ..?

In 2001, Dick Cheney held a secret meeting with energy officials, of which the contents of the meeting were never released. Of course, the oil execs denied the meeting.
However, as reported by the Washington Post in 2005, a White House document proved otherwise:
A White House document shows that executives from big oil companies met with Vice President Cheney’s energy task force in 2001 — something long suspected by environmentalists but denied as recently as last week by industry officials testifying before Congress.
A White House document shows that executives from big oil companies met with Vice President Cheney’s energy task force in 2001 — something long suspected by environmentalists but denied as recently as last week by industry officials testifying before Congress.
The document, obtained this week by The Washington Post, shows that officials from Exxon Mobil Corp., Conoco (before its merger with Phillips), Shell Oil Co. and BP America Inc. met in the White House complex with the Cheney aides who were developing a national energy policy, parts of which became law and parts of which are still being debated.
Since this meeting, 9/11 happened, the Iraq War happened, gas prices skyrocketed, and BP has been pumping millions of gallons of oil in to the Gulf of Mexico.
Most all of you left wing union haters were good with this and you lost at the pump.. But you still don't demand disclosure..

However a few teachers and other public employees are being forced to deunionize because they want their wages placed in trust in the form of a pension.

In a free and just society .. those that have conspired to steal hard earned wages from you should have an excess profit tax levied on'um ....

As it was, so it is again.

But this time I was expecting "change I can believe in" . . . . guess I was duped.

So who (democrats) can we run against Obama in '12?

So you don't think they should meet? I don't see the need for secrecy and to deny meeting and did the White House ever deny meetings had taken place?

how about oil and unions?? you left that one out.

does anyone else find it odd that those pro union democrats favor green energy that because of it's nature relies on small start up, mostly non-union employees and punishes big oil with it's mostly unionized workforce??

and it's a double whammy because this increases our dependence on less reliable foreign sources of oil.

but it's ok, we can blame evil corporation and republicans for the loss of union jobs. ;-)

First it's not the industry that chooses if or not it's employees will be union. That decision lies solely up to the discretion of the employees and how they are treated. Another fact concerning unions and startup's. Most startup's are small family or partner based and only grow if their product is marketed in a manner that gives people the free choice to choose between the now and the future ...

Secondly .. the men and women who work for the oil company's that still use "high quality, highly skilled and well educated oilfield workers" have a choice if they want the high pay and safety that the union through it's power of collective bargaining and the grievance procedure, has to offer or the choice to have a less stable and safe work environment.

At he present the United States doesn't produce enough oil and or has the reserves to fulfill it's daily needs let alone the worlds needs. We are slaves to that "less than reliable world oil market." We have one oilfield that produces 32 million barrels per day which would supply the world demands for nine hours.

    Near Blythe CA,
The U.S. Department of the Interior announced last Tuesday that construction will begin on the world’s largest solar power plant, which is to be built in Blythe, California. The facility will use Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology to deliver 1,000 megawatts of generating capacity — enough renewable energy to power 300,000 homes annually — and will span 7,025 acres of federal property in the Mojave Desert. Since the plant will be “dry-cooled”, it will use 90 percent less water than a standard “wet-cooled” solar thermal system of this kind. Solar Trust, the project’s developer, plans to use water from the Palo Verde Mesa Groundwater Basin which is replenished via the Colorado River. Communications Manager for Solar Trust, Andrea Elliot, says that the project is not likely to affect the river, as the Palo Verde Mesa Basin is “very remotely connected” to it. “After construction, there will be a review,” Elliott said. “If withdrawals affect surface flows, then we will take steps to mitigate, though it is uncertain what those will be at this point.” The Colorado River is shared between several states, so any exorbitant use by the plant would need to be offset. Five other solar power projects also received federal authorization last month and, with the new Blythe approval, will have combined 2,800 megawatts in generating capacity — enough to power close to 2 million homes. The project will offer roughly 2,500 jobs during the construction period and create more than 200 permanent jobs once the facility is fully operational.
and please note the 200 new jobs for this plant alone. There will be two additional plants one near the CA NV border near Searchlight and another near Quartzsite AZ providing an estimated additional 400 full time jobs. Not including the High paying union construction jobs over the 5 year duration. Also here will be support for these jobs and the manufacturing of the system's.

The sad part is are is no American companies capable of manufacturing the array and the contractor Solar Trust is German therefore taking money out of the country.

Ronald Reagan said it best ... Leave the "Future in the future" ... He also said Ketchup was a vegetable, however everyone knows Ketchup is made from a fruit ....... well perhaps not him, Palin and Bochman....

Now about he loss of union jobs .... theres a difference between the employees going through a decertification election and a dictator deciding what's best for them.

nikki, you act as if the two are mutually exclusive. and you miss my point (as usual)

the point is that actions and policies of the left (as well as the right) result in losses of good jobs. in this case the loss of those jobs impacts the economy and other jobs.

why is it so difficult for partisians and zealots to realize that we have to put all energy options on the table, especially those that don't need huge government subsidies to "create" jobs.

In 1981, the United States Congress ordered the United States Department of Agriculture to issue new standards for federally financed school lunch programs, which would enable schools to economize; one of the USDA's proposals was to classify ketchup as a vegetable. The suggestion was widely ridiculed and the proposal was dropped.

So yo belittle a dead man in an effort to make him sound stupid and yourself sound smart. NO surprise the jackass is the symbol of the democrats
