If Texas is doing so well why are they in these low paying jobs ... Wait I can answer that, Texas is a low wage paying State and a right to work state too boot. Texas Ranks 25 th nation wide with a 2009 medium income of $48,259. My state is 11th with $56,548 while the national average is $50,221. No Southern unless if you consider Maryland, Virginia and Nevada as Southern States rank above Texas.

Then explain why there are so many Bars, Taverns, Brew Pubs, Sports Bars and Restaurants in the states that pay the Fed Minimum wage to servers? I got a list of taverns in the Seattle area it had 1178 listings .. and thats just one publication. On the Island I live on, Bainbridge Island, including the Golf and Country Club there are 15 ...

nikki, again you demonstrate your lack of understanding about numbers and statistics. a raw number like "it had 1178 listings" means nothing by itself. assuming that number is accurate, it has to be compared on a per capita basis with other metro areas to have any meaning at all.

as for your stupid comparison of average wages...again, it's all relative to the cost of living. what good does that extra $7K do all the people that can't buy a home in Washington when those making $7K less can buy a NICE home in Texas??
