Of course they're going to keep their money in their pockets. R&D with big business is expensive and risky. In a growth opportunity environment, they take more risks because the rewards can be greater. They spread their investments between risky and conservative. When the environment is anti-growth, they keep their investments towards the more conservative developments and keep the investment costs down.

Hell, look at all the stimulus dollars that have been pumped into "Green Companies" that have used that money to move to china, or develop crap that they couldn't give away, and then had to fold. Basically, tax payers funded "Green" R&D and we lost our ass doing it.

It's not just the 2% more taxes he'll pay. I don't know Doug's business so I won't use him as an example. However, a sole proprietor that had 50 plus employees and managed to pull in $150,000 in profit, from a business that is earning about $1,000,000 in revenue would get hurt.

How? Because the profit doesn't come out of thin air. It comes out of the sole proprietor's pocket.

That $150,000 that the owner makes IS not only his profit, but his salary. Bump his tax rate by 2% and he now takes home $130,000 and the other $20,000 goes to Obama give-aways. That's probably one part time employee or almost one full time employee. The only way that owner can maintain his living of $150,000 a year is to lay someone off.

Now, let's add the Obamacare fiasco into it. He now has to provide Health care or pay a fine of $2,000 to $5,000 a person. 50 employees at $2,000 a piece is $100,000.

Awww fuck, our poor rich business owner now only get's to take home $30,000 a year.

OR, he can fold his business and try and find a job that pays $50,000 a year. Of course he's going to loose his home because he can't pay a $2,000 a month mortgage on $30,000 or even $50,000 a year. He has to move into a rental, and not only does his home add to the glut of foreclosed homes on the market, but now his commercial real estate is also sitting vacant and creating NO revenue.

actually i make so little profit that none of this shit directly affects me.

indirectly, that's another story. a huge segment of the market simply goes where the cheapest drinks are because they are broke. that means a beer price war of sorts. i end up selling beer at $2.00 a bottle. cost = 84 cents, plus 28 cents mixed beverage tax so i get 88 cents profit before i pay staff, the entertainment, rent, electric, license fees, and all the other bills.

it's getting worse for the servers too - their tips have been going down of late. so none of us have any extra cash and the next person in line gets less from us.

by not understanding the economy. a huge segment of bar goers are either service industry (whose tips are dropping) or young people with other low paying jobs (hardest hit by high unemployment) that obama is clueless about his job killing superpowers is all it takes.

btw, there would be far fewer bars and thus far fewer jobs if bars had to pay tip earners minimum wage. guess that makes you a job killer to nikki!

and fwiw, all of my employees earn more than the minimum that i'm allowed to pay. in fact most of them get double that or more.
