I'm not so sure about that. Most experts predict that the world oil supply will run out in 25-50 years. That means no more cars, no more planes, no more trains, AND NO MORE PLASTIC. Most of the fresh water we are surviving on comes from rivers fed by glaciers that are rapidly drying up -- again, the experts are saying our fresh water will be gone in 40-50 years. Humans are also overdue for a global pandemic, the last being the Spanish Flu. Add in the deforestation of the Amazon, which is sapping us of our oxygen and a hole in the ozone layer that is currently the size of North America and we have some serious ecological problems. And that's just for starters.
From a political standpoint, the Middle East is a powder keg just waiting to burst into full-blown war and there are plenty of people there who would happily drop nukes on each other. And when (not if) China decides to start invading other places (like, I don't know, Seattle?) to make room for their more than one billion people and to restock the nation with women, someone is going to push back violently. Or several someones will push back. And again, that's just for starters.
Hell, who am I kidding. The more I think about it, the more I think the Mayans were right and the world might just come to an end on Dec. 21, 2012.
