    Negotiating with Terrorists

Once again, I guess "toning down the rhetoric" should only apply to Conservatives. It's ironic when you consider that Gabby Giffords made an appearance to cast a vote on the issue.....

    Writing for Politico, William Yeomans:

It has become commonplace to call the tea party faction in the House “hostage takers.” But they have now become full-blown terrorists.
They have joined the villains of American history who have been sufficiently craven to inflict massive harm on innocent victims to achieve their political goals. A strong America has always stood firm in the face of terrorism. That tradition is in jeopardy, as Congress and President Barack Obama careen toward an uncertain outcome in the tea party- manufactured debt crisis.
    TIME‘s Joe Klein:

The Republicans have been willing to concede nothing. Their stand means higher interest rates, fewer jobs created and more destroyed, a general weakening of this country’s standing in the world. Osama bin Laden, if he were still alive, could not have come up with a more clever strategy for strangling our nation.
Former White House advisor Van Jones:

Any faction in America that would put a gun to the head of 310 million people and say ‘If you don’t do it our way, we will blow your dreams away, we will blow a hole in the American economy’, that is un-American.
New York Times columnist Thomas Freidman:

[The tea party movement] is so lacking in any aspiration for American greatness, so dominated by the narrowest visions for our country and so ignorant of the fact that it was not tax cuts that made America great but our unique public-private partnerships across the generations. If sane Republicans do not stand up to this Hezbollah faction in their midst, the Tea Party will take the G.O.P. on a suicide mission.
Peter Goodman at the Huffington Post (this post was later edited by the management at Huffington Post to tone it down a bit):

The same Republicans who have so eagerly prosecuted the war on terror, running up huge deficits in the process, are now behaving like the enemies on which they have squandered so much blood and treasure: They are acting like terrorists. Yes, terrorists.
    Margaret Carlson of Bloomberg News:

I mean, they’ve strapped explosives to the Capitol and they think they are immune from it.
    Chris Matthews on MSNBC:

Well, the GOP has become the Wahhabis of American government, willing to risk bringing down the whole country in the service of their anti-tax ideology.
Former Obama car czar Steve Rattner on MSNBC’s Morning Joe:

You know, the problem with this is it’s like a form of economic terrorism. I imagine these Tea Party guys are like strapped with dynamite, standing in the middle of Times Square at rush hour and saying, ‘either you do it my way, or we’re going to blow you up, ourselves up, and the whole country up with us.’ So you tell me how those kinds of standoffs end.

Another irony is that these assholes don't even use the word "terrorist" when talking about terrorists! Well, I guess "rich, old white folk" didn't take; "racist' didn't work; "extreme" didn't catch on; so they're having a go at "terrorist". I wonder what's next? Cannibals? Nazis? Baby killers?

Here's a phrase the Liberals should get used to if they want to continue with their spending and borrowing binge:

Cao ni zu zong shi ba dai!

    Good luck with that.

Barack Obama was missing in action during debt crisis
So where does Barack Obama stand now that the debt limit controversy seems to be settled?
Off to the side, is one answer. In the negotiations that produced the bill the 44th president of the United States seemed to be more of an onlooker than a participant.

The president went into this controversy well armed. The Constitution grants him a veto which can be overridden only by a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress. Administratively he has at hand the expertise of the career professionals in the Office of Management and Budget and a competent and experienced budget director. He had the political weapon of the threat of chaos and economic disaster if the deadline of August 2, set by his Treasury secretary last April, was not met.

But over the course of the last seven months he squandered these advantages. Obama calculated that he could use the issue to demand a tax increase that would split the House Republican majority that took office in January.
The threat was empty. His Treasury secretary's lurid picture of what would happen if the debt limit was not raised disarmed Obama of his constitutional weapon, the veto. Obama spinners kept trying to portray him as the only adult in the room. But it was increasingly clear he was not in the room at all. The man one of whose titles is commander-in-chief was not in command of anything.

Anybody like to invite him to LP?- a bigger donk than me!

I'll give you a "what if"

The Democrats are holding up Senior Citizens as a human shield in the spending debate in order to protect their bloated spending and pork barrel bribes. Democrats don't care about the Seniors, they're just selfishly trying to protect their campaign contributors and their deep pocket special interests.

Let's say that Boehner, Palin, or Bachman said the above -- Do you think for one moment that they wouldn't be excoriated in the press?

No, granny's being used as a human shield. She's not in danger, her SS isn't in danger, and her medicare isn't in danger. But the Democrats are using all of those as a cover to try and save their bloated spending, corrupt payoffs, and golden parachutes.

    That's your opinion ...

The idea was to increase the debt ceiling and create revenue through taxes in order to pay for the increase ... Now just read the Bill and see where the cuts come from to offset the debt increase.

Like they say insanity is repeating the same task and expecting a different outcome each time. This has been going on over 30 years since Reagan.

Me I'll be OK ... Our family wealth is growing faster than we have ever seen ... how are you doing?

    whose idea was that?

Allow the economy some stability and the jobs will come back. When the jobs come back, revenues will go up. All of these unemployed aren't paying taxes, that is why revenue is down, not because rich people, who I'll say once again avoid paying the rate they are supposed to already and will always continue to do so until there is a flat tax without deductions, don't pay enough.

What is fair? How much of the entire tax burden should the top 2% pay?
