    is this ok?
But I'll still open a door for a woman, it's the nature of the nurture within me. I will always, always treat a woman as a lady.

Sorry! but, I too don't always believe what I read!

    Sammy....

    have a fun nite ladies!

OK here is my 2 cents.....

I was a foster parent for many years and I have had many different children come through my house. The one that stands out the most....My first foster child. I got her when she was 14 years old. She was homeless, very dirty, and had no goals. I believed that she was dirty because she had never been taught or had the means to know hygeine. After being at my house for some time she was making all As and B's in school, perfect attendance, very clean, and was planning on attending college. The summer before her Senior year of High School she got moved back home....big mistake. She ended up dropping out of school, quit taking care of herself. I saw her about a month after moving back home and she looked just like when I picked her up at 3 years before...lack of hygeine and no goals.

I have a friend that was adopted, never knew her real parents growing up. She was the perfect student, well behaved, very well mannered. As soon as she was 18 she found her biological mother....with in a year she was a totally different person. She ended up just like her biological mother. Was that due to influence from her bio. mother or the lack of structure and what was expected of her?

Of my own boys....alot of the behavior of my youngest reminds me soooo much of his dad (we will have some hard times), where my oldest reminds me more of myself and my family.

I do believe that the way we are is genetic, but there are outside influences that play a big part of who we are and what we can become. I believe we can structure ourselves to achieve anything we want to, but if there is no discipline, either self or other, then we will do what is comfortable to us...let our genes take over....just hope they are good ones!!!

I hope this made sense...I tend to rattle on, JUST LIKE MY MOTHER!!!!

As far as intellegence....I believe that people have the ability to learn and make the most of their education, but one can say that the drive to do so come from genetics.

I do know that learning disabilities are genetic.

"The question is too subjective and amorphous for a meaningful discussion."

Well I guess that puts a stop to that!

No offense, but I observed some 'meaningful'
    ideas being tossed around!
My belief is that we both only use a very small
percentage of our full potential. Sometimes a man
opens a portal for a woman, sometimes it works the
other way. If we were less in competition, maybe we could
do more of that! Then we would all me damned smarter!

Again, I agree with your thoughts, save your last statement.

I guess we all have our own theories on all of these questions. The truth is - is that really none of them can be proven because we all have our own personal experiences that can in both directions. Hence why they are called theories and opinions....and not facts
