Want to stimulate the economy? Reduce the size of government. Start with the latest arm called Homeland Security. Less government, less taxing to pay for government agencies. Cut government spending and start giving back the money taken from me. You know the taxes that they take for their excessive spending.

We have a card, that has BIG money on it...The monthly interest owed is so big, we have to keep moving it, to 0 %, for a year. A long with that great offer, we pay about $400 in transfer fees. This still saves us hundreds of dollars in interest per year.

But good gawd, lots of people have had to use their credit cards for necessities, like car repairs, home repairs. The interest rate is good, until you have to pay to have a new transmission put in your car, or replace the furnace that just blew up. All a sudden you get your bill, and the interest rate have jumped up 9%.....now in 10 years, you have never been late on a payment, you have excellent credit...so you call these bastards, and ask them why your interest rate was increased. WTF...you are OVER EXTENDED! Not, you went over your limit...you are OVER EXTENDED! We moved the money...

Two weeks later we get a letter from the credit card company saying...congratulations, your credit limit has been increased to $25,000.

TRUE STORY!

I know if the interest rates were cut, accross the board for TWO YEARS, lots of people could get these things paid down, and have money to spend.

I have to disagree..
If people better read their credit card agreements before they charged them up, they would see that their rates are usually whatever it is + the prime rate. (*shocker* A variable rate!).

Most of the time, if you have great credit, a large balance, and a good history with the credit card company, you can call at any time and get an interest rate decrease. I know Citi offers a 0% interest/no transfer free offer with almost every one of their credit cards. And after you call, if you're not satisfied, just say the magic words "I want to close my account" in which they'll transfer you to retention where you can hope to receive lots of great offers...



Now, off of my tangent..
As far as spending my "extra" refund kick back...

I don't understand why many people feel like credit companies are their friends and are doing them a favor..

I think I could agree or symapthize more with CJ if they hadn't done it to themselves to begin with.. the same as accepting a variable rate on a home loan..
It was not some unfortunate event (other then BUSH) that got them in the debt they're in..
