Since 2005 the U.S. Mint in Philly has been punching out $600,000 a day in Presidential $1 coins and since hardly anyone is buying them they go into storage in plastic bags. Congress (bless their evil hearts) passed a law to mint the coins and they will continue to be minted until 2016.

actually some people have been using the mint to pile up credit card points. buy the coins with your card, take them straight to the bank and make a credit card payment, collect points. there was no limit to the purchases and no shipping charge, but now you can only buy $3,000 a month or so. still, might want to check it out and maybe roll up enough points to cover airfre for an LP get together ;-)
