    Jon Stewart SKEWERS Glenn Beck!

Regardless of what you think of either man, this is oe of the most devasting parodies I have ever seen. As someone who actually tried to write comedy professionally (the late 90's were a crazy time for all of us), I basically watched this entire segment with my jaw on the floor. Unbelievable job of both acting and writing and oh yeah btw saying exactly what a lot of people in the country currently think about the Teabaggers.

btw, do you understand that the term "teabaggers" is offensive to many, many people??

unlike the paradoy of glenn beck, it isn't funny. (at least not for more than about 30 seconds) the term is used to make light of and marginalize the tea party protesters, and does so in a rather vulgar way.

OK, here's my view. If you're dense enough to use a tea bag as a symbol of a political movement, don't look so shocked when people throw it back in your face and make fun of you because you earned every bit of it. Why not wear pink socks on their hands and call it the Pink Sock Party? Or maybe big salad bowls on their heads and call it the Salad Tossing Party?

They had to be more careful there because most people aren't going to feel too badly smashing that softball out of the park. And yeah, it is kind of a shame because it undermines their message. It also shows how out of touch they are with large segments of the American populus even though they claim to speak on our behalf.

There I was , wondering why teabaggers would ever be offensive to anybody, so I googled tea bag party. I found this.

    sigh

i'll agree that it was an easy joke, but they took their name from the original tea party protests and did not adopt a tea bag as their official symbol. not saying none of them showed up with tea bags because obviously some did and the low brow jokes began.

still, that does not excuse the liberal portion of the media from using the term to excess, nor does it excuse any individulal from using the term simply because it amuses them. that's the same slippery slope we go down with sexual and racial slurs. some people think the distasteful and offensive comments are funny and feel justified for using them to get a laugh.

in a world where we can make fun of everything and nobody is offended, fine - let the jokes roll. but that world does not exist, so we should do our best to have respect for all.

still amazed at how well stewart nailed the mannerismism of glenn beck. probably a part of some lefty plot to make him burst his stiches laughing while in recovery

OMG, that was unbelievably perfect. And I used to think that Jon Stewart was a bad actor! He could not have been any more dead-on with those... for 8 1/2 minutes, mind you!

Eh. I'm kind of with you here and kind of not. Making jokes or slurs about someone's race or gender or orientation is different because people don't choose those things about themselves.

The people waving tea bags make the decision to choose a symbol for their movement that was a fairly obvious double entendre that most people would pick up on in about two seconds. I know I did. Let's face it, if Joe Biden did something this boneheaded slipping up on words, it would be plastered on Fox News for two years.

i thought biden did stuff like that on a regular basis

and if they attached an unintended sexual reference to biden or anyone, it would be equally as wrong. well, after the first 48 hours anyways

i think biden is safe though, after all who wants to think of him and anything sexual at the same time??
