    INDISCRIMINATE MURDER IN BAGDAD

5th April 2010 10:44 EST WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.
Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

I found this video that shows how mind controlled and robotic our young US soldiers have become. Innocent civilians in the war zone are not safe. And with the way they are trained we won't be safe here once the martial law and concentration camps get activated. It is gonna happen, ya know...I fear for my Grandchildren...

OK... first off... I can see BOTH sides of this, so I'm not "brainwashed" by either side...

On the first hand, it's OBVIOUS from the facts presented that YES, the US Government either covered facts up, or at the very least did a piss poor job of reviewing and reporting... As I've said before, I love My country... It's My government I don't trust anymore. If I had My way, there would be a full scale investigation ANY and EVERY time a civilian, especially a child, is killed or injured by our forces. The problem with saying that is, there already IS that policy... So it's really a matter of who's doing the reviewing, and who THEY report to.

I'd ALSO like to take this opportunity to point out that NONE of this would have happened, if we'd just invaded the correct country to begin with...

My heart DOES break thinking that innocent lives, especially those of children, were lost, and it is in watching videos, and knowing these facts that it becomes increasingly clear (as if it weren't already obvious) that war is a terrible, horrible thing, to be avoided unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.

HOWEVER... I also see the point of view of the crew of that Apache. The video DOES show armed men in that group, I DID CLEARLY see AT LEAST two AKs... If you listen to the radio chatter, it's clear that ground forces are in the area, and that the Apache crews HONESTLY believe that this is an ambush patrol. If I didn't go into watching the video with the information that civilians and children were killed, that's EXACTLY what I'd believe as well. The sad fact is that it IS insurgent SOP to blend in with the civilian population, in civilian clothes, and many times in the company of women and children, whom they WILL use as human shields if it suits them. They DO swoop in to collect evidence (like weapons) that those killed were in fact hostile, and then afterward they DO claim that US forces have killed civilians. These facts are, while horrible to imagine, none the less, true and documented.

Even when the video is magnified 10x or so, and paused, (which wasn't an option for the Apache crew) to show the children in the front seat of the van, I STILL can't honestly say I can tell they're kids, I see people, yes, but I can't honestly say I can tell that they're kids... And I'm sitting in the living room, completely calm, looking at it paused... Not desperately calling in for clearance to engage, thinking that if I don't soldiers lives may be at risk.

Hell, when it shows, what I believe to be Noor-Eldeen pointing his camera around the corner of that building, I CANT say for sure that it IS a camera, and NOT an RPG tube. Obviously the sources that labeled the video can't be 100% sure either... otherwise they would have pointed out that it was, in fact, Noor-Eldeen.

I know that many of the statements made over the radio seem absolutely cold blooded, and may shock more sensitive viewers who've never been in "kill or be killed" situation, but I can assure you (and any shrink would back Me up) that these are most likely NOT the comments of bloodthirsty, cold hearted murderers, but the coping mechanisms of normal sane human beings, forced to deal with an insane situation the only way they can, detaching themselves from the situation. I feel horrible for what the crews of these gunships (who have families, and probably children of their own) will have to deal with, when they come to find out that they did, in fact, kill civilians.
Good luck, Be well, and see ya'll round,
    D

I agree with comments from both the above, what is worrying is the apathy from everyone else. Whatever way you look at the situation, it really isn't good. Why don't people object?

Just as guns dont kill innocents people do, Armies dont kill innocents Politicians do. I doubt CJ was having a go at the guys in the apache she was just showing the horrors and realities of having cnuts at the top.

No one likes to see the horror of war, and shit does happen. It's shocking, brutal, and down right awful.

I did not watch the video, nor will I. All war IMO is senseless murder.

    But.

I did spend 6 years Active Army, and worked, trained, and still have close friendships with some of my fellow troops. I've also spent 15 years in and currently in another field.

The radio traffic is what we call "Gallows Humor" Its sick, twisted, but for some reason, it keeps us "sane"

I know, and understand you got upset when you had the video link sent over to you CJ. It got the emotion from you, including the rage over the war, and the innocent lives that are and were lost. But, there is always so much more to any story, and I believe Derek had some good points, but the biggest thing is it's so easy to point fingers of blame and label the soldiers and heartless killers. That is where the real heartbreak both begains and ends.

I havent seen the video nor wiil I, but in Palestine the terrorists moved to households. It was 'We can kill you but you won't kill us because you'll alsohave tokill innocent people and children' Maybe someone can say if this was the case here. It's got to be so difficult when you know you're a target and are unable to fight back.
