I agree the earth is far better off without us. We will survive. The question is how many will? It is probably a good thing oil prices are so high. Hopefully forcing auto makers in creating better electric vehicles. The sooner we run out of oil the better imo. I admit I am part of the problem driving a gas guzzling Cherokee Laredo. Gas would need to be far higher in price than it is before I would consider driving one of those tiny smart cars. Hopefully they create decent electric four wheel drive trucks. lol

the earth is neither better or worse off with humans around. there have been mass extinctions before and there will be again. as for running out of oil sooner rather than later, well it's a bit of a catch 22. if we run out before we are prepared, billions will die. then again, will we ever be prepared??

as for the climate warming - remember, warmer is better. end of story. it's going to be bad for coastal human development, but for biodiversity it is simply wonderful!!

There's quite a difference between man made disaster's like Love Canal, Chernobyl , billions of gallons of toxic waste from chemical plants, billions of tons of toxic gas pumped into the atmosphere, uncontrolled population growth and on and on with the destruction of earth. Man made destruction and could be prevented if as we believe we are intelligent and in charge of our destiny than that of the 1 million year great disaster like a large meteor striking earth or the eruption of a large caldera like yellow stone that could destroy almost all live as we know it here on earth.

However the one man made disaster that will cause the destruction of mankind is religion that teaches those who can't think for themselves, that we are destine to destroy the planet because "God will come and do it himself then rebuild it for the "children of god" to live.
