But I agree with Rush mostly on ... Fuck the money no more handouts fucking welfare for assholes who build on flood plains and hurricane tracks, Fuck the assholes who live in known tornado country and fuck the dopes who build homes in wildfire zones.

Give the money to us, those who can afford to build safe homes in safe areas.

I don't listen to Rush and I haven't looked up the quote Nikki's referencing. But much like Katrina, I don't understand why people expect the government to rebuild private property?

If you own a home and it got destroyed due to the winds or water. Your insurance should be paying for the damages and/or the rebuilding costs. If you chose not to have insurance, going to the government asking for it to pay for your home is asinine.

FEMA's intent was to help local governments with clean up, and help displaced residents to survive in the short term until power and basic services are back up. After Hurricane Andrew, the government didn't rebuild homes and businesses in Florida. Why should they be expected to after Katrina and now Irene?
