There was a big debate about whether Revelations should have been allowed in nd the last verse has probably caused more controversy than any other, it was written about the book Revelations not the Bible as a whole!
The earth’s age wasn’t ever an issue until the renaissance. The new thinkers of that time were rejecting the flat earth theory and hat the earth was the center of the universe. These scientists were questioning almost of all Catholic dogma.. Many great new, ideas evolved around that time only to be suppressed for centuries.
Not until Darwin and his discoveries which created the second round of debates on evolution and time, was this subject openly debated at all levels. I’m not sure but I believe that the Catholic Church has accepted evolution suggesting the biblical term day may really mean billions of years.
If only the Vatican would open their library to allow scholars to examine them- but refuse to allow any 'outsiders' entry.
