How NOT to solve "global warming"

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), the chairman of the Environment & Public Works Committee, declared in her opening floor speech today that a “recession is the precise time to" enact the Lieberman-Warner global warming cap-and-trade bill because it “brings us hope.”
Here is the rest of the story.... all of the negative impacts of this bill.

Let's also not forget that the manufacturing jobs lost in the U.S. will go to countries with no environmental controls so that the net result is MORE not less CO2 emissions.
what matters most in life is honesty. it's never wrong to do the right thing.

Here's an interesting take on Obama vs. Lieberman - maybe Obama will take a hand in this bill.

sounds like it was about differences between the two and had nothing to do with this crap legislation. as usual, it's impossible to tell where Obama stands. like Bush or hate him, you know where he stands on issues. and on this bill he has it right, saying that he will veto it.

May I list some of the things Barak hopes
to accomplish every once in a while?

    Yeah?

    Ok...I like dis one!!

#1. He plans on putting all meetings with big oil companies
on cnet so that the public are involved in the issues.

Disclaimer: Not one candidate will tell you how they will go
about making their promises come true, the only difference
here is that Obama is telling you he will try to change the
way politics work in Washington, and people voting for him
are asked to take a chance on that change...

Bush said he would change Washington too. IMO Bush ain't
    as nimble as Obama!!

Saying he will and can change things are one thing and then doing it will be another. I hear the political elite telling us all the time they are going to change the way things are done, to get elected, only to see them get into office and be the same old same old.

the oil companies are not the problem. government policy, emerging economies and manipulated markets by the oil producers are the problem.

and Bush did indeed change Washington. one change was to get republicans to spend like drunken democrats. that hasn't worked out too well

The people are part of the problem, too; we want things to be fixed, but not by any measures that actually inconvenience us or restrict our choices.

if the cure is worse than the disease...why bother?? let's wipe out 90% of the human population or go back to the stone age. that should reduce CO2 produced by humans. won't stop global warming though

this bill is bad, very very bad legislation. more taxes and more restrictions. how long ago was it that i mentioned that the global warming scam was very likely a ruse to re-distribute wealth, take away your freedoms and increase the power of the government?? well, no matter what side of the anthropogenic global warming fence you are on, it sure seems like that is exactly what is happening.

the REAL solutions to increased CO2 are being ignored, just as the real solutions to riging fuel costs are being ignored. why is that??

I didn't say that the people were the ONLY problem; governments who spend all their time and energy getting elected or re-elected instead of actually governing are a big part, too. So is Big Business, whose bottom line doesn't have a space for "Did we do the right thing?"

no, big business is not the problem. the evil corporations are not the problem. who are you to determine what exactly doing the right thing is??? wanna save the planet?? go to china and introduce some environmental regulations there. see how that goes over. oh sorry, i forgot that everything that happens in china is the fault of the U.S. too.

if the evil corporations didn't make money...who would produce and distribute all the goods and services you use?? we could go back to living on farms...but hey, the internet would have to go too...some evil corporation is making money as we type
