Just wondering ....

You are a government employee. Which government agency do you work for? Is it State or Federal? Are you full time or part time? If part time are you 1039 of term? If full time are you required to take off 2 month a year like Federal employees? When you take your 20 days furlo will you collect unemployment? And lastly ... did you support the governor in Wisconsin?

I work for the Air Force, department of defense - civil service. I am full time and *if* we are required to take the furlo, then I will either get a waitressing job, or take out unemployment. Im not sure yet.... I am more concerned at this point about the budget not being passed and the entire government being shut down besides mission essential military.

As far as the Wisconsin governor is concerned, I am not aware of the entire situation, so I cant make an informed decision on how I feel about it.

No worry ... congress will get paid but the military won't. And all of those people camping in national parks and on BLM fee lands will be ask to get off as the DOI will shutdown also.

I'm sure congress will get the point across about who runs this country even though it's a small group in the house that want a shutdown and your cushy government job replaced by low paid contract workers perhaps from a temp service.

I have read stats that says we do, too, and I don't know where they got their information, because its mostly incorrect. We are as every bit of underpaid as your local walmart employee. Ok ok, we get more than working at walmart, but no where near what the private contractors get paid. They make around double what I make, but they don't have job security like I do. Which perk is better? More money or job security?

Nic enjoy your time off (if it happens)... i have to work next week no matter what happens with the budget. last time this crap happened was 16 years ago and all the furloughed employeed were paid retroactively when they returned to work so for them it was essentially a piad 3-week vacation without being charged leave....

I'm 100% behind you and I also believe you government workers are underpaid. I also believe you take tremendous amounts of trashing from the anti government folks but Nic, you gotta remember where it comes from.

It's a buzzing in the ear of the malcontents from the rich who would replace you with low paid workers without unions or rights while they bid the workout higher than if you and your fellow workers were left alone to do your jobs.

With you civil service people you have made a government work a very fine government when left alone to do their jobs do it above and beyond reproach. I know for a fact that many civil employees come out of the military where they are trained in highly skilled jobs then utilize those jobs in places like maintenance facilities working in their craft.
