Yeah, I'm starting to hate doctors in general. They never fix my problems, and are getting to the point where they don't even treat symptoms. However, until my blood pressure drops to an acceptable level, I am stuck going. OH... I also couldn't live without Birth Control. So, at least my girlie doc will always get my business.

Republican doctors, Democratic doctors?? What has this country come to. We all know the roll of doctors in our lives but many of us tend to forget that they also are running a businesss. If doctors are kept from making money, then many people are out of work. More than just the doctor goes into the treatment of patients and all have to make a living. I'm glad that I have the 'Republican' type of doctor who looks out for his employees as well as his patients.

I've shared this before, and it's a perfect example of what tort lawyers have done to the medical system. My niece married a Mayo Clinic heart transplant surgeon just out of residency, his starting salary is 400k per year and he's worth every penny IMO, Mayo covers his mal-practice insurance which is just over 500k per year...amazing!

Not what TORT lawyers have done but what shoddy work by doctors and hospitals and other health care givers and the pharmaceutical industry have done. Sure your nieces husband may be a very good surgeon but he knew going in what that high cost would be even though he personally will never be involved in a malpractice suit.

Doctors aren't sued if something goes wrong while under his care as long as there is no negligence. However, would you like to have Michael Jacksons Dr. working on you?

Myself ... I use as my primary health care giver a Nurse Practitioner for the day to day needs like flu shots that skin blemish getting larger ......

Skin cancer .. you see ... you "sot"! (= Wales drunken penis brain) I worked out in the sun over 20 years, wearing just a halter top shorts and a type V life jacket. Of course you Welsh (= drunken penis brain) wouldn't know anything about the sun living in that dark dank place you call a country.

We'd know enough to be a bit sensible when it comes to working in the sun, so a self inflicted injury. Is Wales a dark dank place ?

SkyGuy I believe is referring to the lack of caps on the dollar amounts for lawsuits, not necessarily the actual mistakes by the doctors and whether or not they're legit. There had to be something put in place to keep someone from getting $25 million because they had a post-surgery infection!
