From your link above Eddie.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plame_affair_timeline

    # 12 February 2002: Valerie E. Wilson (aka Valerie Plame), a C.I.A. analyst working in its Counterproliferation Division, sends a memo to the deputy chief of the C.I.A.'s Directorate of Operations stating that her husband has good contact with the former Prime Minister and Director of Mines in Niger as well as other contacts who might prove useful in shedding light on the supposed Niger-Iraq uranium contract.
Not a covert operative but an analyst, much different.

26 February 2002: Joseph C. Wilson travels to Niger at the request of the CIA.
Notice 'at the request' and not under the employ, also much different things. He provided some first hand info, but he wasn't an operative either.

6 July 2003: Joe Wilson's Opinion Editorial "What I Didn't Find in Africa" is published in The New York Times.

    Excerpt from Wilson's Editorial:

I also shared my conclusions with members of her staff. In early March, I arrived in Washington and promptly provided a detailed briefing to the C.I.A. ....There was nothing secret or earth-shattering in my report, just as there was nothing secret about my trip......
Is it common for covert operatives, or the husband's of covert operatives to PUBLISH their reports in the New York Times???

Sometime before 8 July 2003 Robert Novak has a conversation with Richard Armitage (Deputy Assistant Secretary of State). In that conversation he is told for the first time that Wilson's wife works for the C.I.A. [Armitage didn't tell Novak her name; subsequently, after his August 2006 public disclosure that he was the "inadvertent" leak, Armitage has asserted that he did not know her name at the time.] Novak uses an edition of Joseph C. Wilson's biography in Who's Who to identify by her maiden name Valerie Plame. According to the reporters Isikoff and Corn, Armitage's leak was "inadvertent, and the Intelligence Identities Act hadn't been violated."
Again, no crime had been committed.

Read the entire article. You'll have the exact details on when she was outed and what her CIA duties were at the time she was outed. She was a special ops NOC at the time of her outing. The analyst position Paul is arguing was only a cover, and was with a fictional firm set up as a front.

Pssst..... If you go through the article on Wilkpedia, I edited it to include that she was a backup singer and the voice for the rodents in "Muskrat Love" by the Captain and Tennille .

I'm not sure if that's true, but it's written in there now so it must be.

Joking btw - but it would have been simple to do.

Wilkpedia is an 'open' encyclopedia and articles can be written or edited by anyone. It would be similar to having each and every post on this board being open and editable by anyone.

Paul maybe I should bow to your superior knowledge on everthing, but Im not going to.

Wikipedia have very high standards, ok all info on there isnt guaranteed 110% but whos to say any source is?

Everthing is ultimately written by a human, so what motives would Wikipedia have to allow bias against your beloved party Nynus? Answer = none.

You seem more bias than Wikipedia if you dont mind me sayin, just my opinion, which may or maynot be like a smelly asshole???

Paul, I see your point on the wikipedia thing, so I've been looking for information from other sources. As it stands, there's way too many sources on the internet that are on either side of the coin (she was covert at the time, she wasn't covert at the time), so unless the CIA brass actually comes out with some declassified facts and says whether she was or wasn't, or if the Special Council actually comes out with irrefutable evidence that says it's so or isn't so (which would depend on the CIA offering up some declassified facts about her), I'm going to assume at this point in time that her covert status, plus whether or not she offered her husband up for the Niger mission, remains an unresolved issue. I accept that this issue may never be resolved. There are just too damn many questions where the answers can be skewed so far out of whack by the slightest partisan spin.

Valerie Plame Wilson testified before the House Oversight Committee today that she WAS covert and DID NOT recommend her husband for the CIA mission to Niger. I watched the whole thing on CSPAN today, but I still need to see some declassified facts from the CIA before I completely buy it.
