for starters i first "heard of" herman cain about 5 years ago. do i think he is presidential material?? no - he lacks the proper experience. he's a good man, has some good ideas and has been successful in business. if he wants to throw his hat in the ring, more power to him.

now, let's talk about who is lowering the bar. two words - al franken. and he actually got enough votes that it only took a few extra found in the trunk of a car to get him a senate seat...lol...

and one other thing, i'm sure the fact that cain is the only officially registered candidate got him a few extra votes at that tea party event in arizona.

and btw, all that "activist court" did was stop the dems from stealing an election. i remember how they invalidated military votes because somehow they got sent out too late to be returned in time, all the while whining about convicted felons having their right to vote taken away and "finding" boxes of ballots from heavily democratic areas laying all around florida.

truth is if algore had been able to win his home state, florida would not have even mattered. guess the people that knew him best were smart enough not to vote for him.

what does herman cain have to do with anything anyways?? he is the flavor of the week and will go nowhere. if the tea party actually endorses him, then maybe you have a story, but guess what - even if he gets that endorsement he still won't get the nomination. you just want to use him to try and make those you hate look bad. nice try, but it's that sort of poison rhetoric that turns people off.

Needless to say, problems abound. The most critical of these is the shameful condition of the military postal system. Mail from the United States to overseas military posts usually takes about three weeks. Aside from being a disgraceful disservice to the troops, the lengthy delivery period for international military mail poses major problems for soldiers trying to vote because some states do not even distribute ballots until 30 days before Election Day. This makes it virtually impossible for the overseas military voter to fill out the ballot and have it back to the proper election authority on time.

There are other problems: during the Florida recount after the 2000 Presidential election, many localities had trouble determining the date of postmark on military absentee ballots. The dates were frequently illegible for one reason or another, so local election officials simply discarded the ballots. Many military ballots were not signed or notarized. Again, hundreds and perhaps thousands of military votes were excluded. These problems only came to light in Florida as a result of the intense scrutiny prompted by various recounts, but the same sorts of difficulties permeate electoral systems across the country.
