Yup! And Al Gore would be wrapping up his second term.

I think that it's ridiculous that the country is forced to fund 50 governor's offices, 50 state legislatures, operate 50 state court systems, operate 50 state DMV systems... etc. I could go on.

We started out with 13 states and expanded to 50. Any business that started with 13 business units and expanded to 50 with no restructuring whatsoever would get slaughtered on costs and last about two weeks. Imagine the savings in government expenditure if we just cut down to 25 states!

Do North Dakota and South Dakota REALLY need two separate administrative systems to handle fewer people than live in San Antonio? I think not. People are now mentally married to the idea of 50 states, but over half of our country's history didn't even include 48. There's plenty of talk about how to reduce the size of our ever expanding government. This would be an awesome way to start if people could accept the initial idea. Maybe the nice, big cut in their taxes might be persuasive.
