i also "wanted" to believe in global warming, after all it was/is getting warmer and CO2 is a greenhouse gas and there is more of it now...it all seemed so simple. as i did more and more research, i saw all sorts of problems with the AGW theory. bottom line, bad science used to reach a predetermined conclusion with a small bit of truth to fall back on. IMO if the warming as been 1 degree, the AGW part is maybe 1/10 of a degree - not enough to be concerned with and the real issue is not enough so that eliminating the human caused fraction will "stop" climate change. i had to move past the initial emotional reaction.
on that same emotional level it's still easy to say "kill the fucker" in death penalty cases, but i've moved beyond that. do i believe that some cases are so terrible that a person "deserves" a death sentence?? sure do...but i just don't think it's the best option. problem is, many of the options i'd like to see are not on the table, so given available options the death penalty may be the "best" one.
guess what i'm saying is you won't find me in an anti death penalty protest, but i do believe there are better ways to deal with the perps who commit terrible crimes.
