Just look around. As far as I'm concerned if you say that there's nothing you can do about it, then say things like they're "justified" in it because they have to defend themselves, that to me sounds like you're defending the act.
It only "sounds like it" to you because that's what you want to hear. However, that doesn't make it true. Some of our views differ from yours, and that is fine. No one is asking you to change your opinion. It's just a slap in the face when you sit there and say just because we support war when it is necessary that it equates to us supporting the killing of innocent people. Obviously, that's not true and if that is the only thing you take away from what soime of us have said, then that's just sad you can't really hear the message being delivered.Do your own homework.

I do understand what you guys mean. However, it seems that evertime I make a statement "against" the killing of innocent people, I'm called an idiot and told that I have no idea what I'm talking about. So basically I'm being put down for my view about it.
I don't think you are an idiot, I just don't agree with your views. I don't think war is all about killing innocent people. Does it haoppen? Absolutely. On purpose? Well, not typically. I know that we had a tip about where a major target was and it was verified he was there, but because he was in a civilian area where innocent people would have been hurt and killed, we stood down. I don't see how you can say that war is "just killing of innocent people", when it clearly is not, at least not on our side.
As I said before...different ballparks.

sentiment that no one likes to see people maimed, slaughtered, raped,

Hello!!! These are obvious reactions to circumstances which have been
dealt with in the same way since the beginning of time.
The other ballpark's contention is to totally circumvent this old and
quite frankly, tired deconstruction of so-called logical consequences
and try to construct a new paradigm under which one can begin to build
a more (and this is not meant as an insult) evolved mechanism to solve
conflicts.
Rather then calling each other demeaning names such as 'treehuggin' peaceniks' and
conversely 'putzhead warmongers' (ha ha ho) we should transcend the obvious and
exchange creative ideas on how to express why truly wonderful I really am.

I think that the conflict has to be handled on two fronts. Deal with those who's mindset is cast in stone in any way necessary. Maybe a few will change their ways, but the majority won't and will continue using violence to express their hatred.
At the same time do everything possible to help future generations see the world from an expanded perspective. Allow them to see beyond the centuries old regional conflict and understand that yes, the times they are a changin'.

I don't see war as a necessary "evil", and would prefer to avoid it all together, but sometimes for the sake of your country and the preservation of life that we have lost so many to keep, war is necessary. When people and/or countries threaten our way of life, we must act. I'm sorry, but if anyone is naive enough to think that us going over to Bin Laden and offering a nice hot apple pie and a hug will mend the animosity and hatred they feel for us, you have completely lost your mind. So yeah, using the force of war is necessary to get what we need to get accomplished so that they can't hurt us in the future. That's not evil. It's preservation.
