In the past couple of years, so many Republicans have made fun of the fact that President Obama reads off of a teleprompter. This is mentioned quite a bit on "Faux News" by people that are...(DUH!) reading it off of a teleprompter.
Sarah Palin made a crack about it the other night. What is the difference between reading from a teleprompter and reading from a piece of paper on your podium(or in Sarah Palins case, the crib notes she has written on her hand)?
"People have no right to judge President Obama. Only history can judge him." Sound familiar?
first off, with a schedule as hectic as a candidate or a president has it is impossible to devote enough prep time to every speech. a teleprompter is a necessary tool.
that said, a huge part of obama catching flack for teleprompter use is due to the attention he got for being a great speaker, and his reliance on it in odd places...like a school classroom, plus the fact that he has stumbled on many occasions when there was no teleprompter.
simple answer, he got a rep as a great speaker and people are going to have fun trying to knock him down a notch or two.
as for palin writing on her hand - that's kinda cheesy. all i can think is that she knew she did not have proper prep time and made a last minute improvisation. i'm sure her opponents will use it as confirmation that she is a dummy, but like i said probably the result of a time crunch that limited her preperation.
