Anyone Tired of getting Fucked by Big Business?

Well are you ... Are you willing to admit letting the big boys dictate to us how they plan to run their company's without cheating, stealing or otherwise outright lying about safety and other stop gap measures so we may stop this constant bleeding of natural resource's, money and low wages for American workers.

This year alone we have seen more money laundering to top ex's of major financial concerns. We have seen safety in the work place at turn of the century 20th century standards and now big oil trading the environment off because installing a blow out preventer would cost an extra 1/2 million dollars.

I'm pissed and I'm pissed at those of you that hold onto the proven failed Reagonomics and it's criminal disasters that have come from it.

Reagonomics are long gone, you have a global command economy such as the facists or communists would be proud of. But you are being fucked so you got that bit right.

I have to agree with Billy on this one. B.O. and the rest of Washington seem content to allow the fucking to continue...without so much as a kiss BTY. Your only recourse Moab is to vote out an impotent President and Democratic controlled Congress....although I am not confident a Republican controlled Congress will bring much of a change to Big Business.

i guess moab is just concerned about who she gets fucked by.

i wonder how everyone feels about getting fucked by union contracts for government employess. those contracts are the biggest cause of states and municipalities facing bankruptcy. the wages are now higher for government employees (and productivity lower) than for private sector employees. but it's not even the wages that are the biggest budget busters, it's the benefits packages and pensions. want to fix california's budget problems?? simply cut pension benefits by 20% or so. after all, retirement in your early 50's at full pay with medical benefits for life is unsustainable. with longer life expectancies it amounts to 2 paid "employees" for every job. and that does not even take into account the bloated payrolls that include way more employees than necessary to get the job done. but it's "free" money after all, just confiscate more through increased taxes and fees. somehow if those signing off on the contracts were spending their own money i think they would look at bit harder at the bottom line.

    just saw this...

The Crippling Price of Public Employee Unions

The American public feels it is drowning in red ink. It is dismayed and even outraged at the burgeoning national deficits, unbalanced state and local budgets, and accounting that often masks the extent of indebtedness. There is a mounting sense that taxpayers are being taken for an expensive ride by public sector unions. The extraordinary benefits the unions have secured for their members are going to be harder and harder to pay.

The political backlash has energized the Tea Party activists, put incumbents at risk in both parties, and already elected fiscal conservatives such as Republican Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. Over the next fiscal year, the states are looking at deficits approaching hundreds of billions of dollars. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a liberal think tank, estimates that this coming year alone states will face an aggregate shortfall of $180 billion. In some states the budget gap is more than 30 percent. The result is a crowding out of the state role as the supporter of adequate infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

How did we get into such a mess? States have always had to cope with volatility in the size and composition of their populations. Now we have shrinking tax bases caused by recession and extra costs imposed on states to pay for Medicaid in the federal healthcare program. The straw (well, more like an iron beam) that breaks the camel's back is the unfunded portions of state pension plans, healthcare, and other retirement benefits promised to public sector employees at a time when federal government assistance to states is falling—down by roughly half in the next fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

It is galling for private sector workers to see so many public sector workers thriving because of the power their unions exercise. Take California. Investigative journalist Steve Malanga point out in the City Journal that California's schoolteachers are the nation's highest paid; its prison guards can make six-figure salaries; many state workers retire at 55 with pensions that are higher than the base pay they got most of their working lives. All this when California endures an unemployment rate steeper than the nation's. It will get worse. There's an exodus of firms that want to escape California's high taxes, stifling regulations, and recurring budget crises. When Cisco's CEO, John Chambers, says he will not build any more facilities in California, you know the state is in trouble.

Exactly. To quote Ralph Nader... "Corporations have taken over the government and turned it against its own people." Excellent website with lots of links to info: Corporate Control of American Democracy

how does "big business" control government?? what mechanism allows them to "buy" political power?? it's the way our election system is set up with it's reliance on expensive campaigns. you either need a boatload of your own money (in which case you probably run a big business) or you need handouts from those looking to buy influence. somehow, someway, we need to eliminate the need for expensive campaigns. until then independent thought will be priced out of the system and will will be stuck "changing" one corrupt politician for another.
