    Nynus VS Rigtard

Now, I actually kind of like this guy and had, up to this point, found his excessive insistence that online poker is "rigged" somewhat entertaining. Not so much the accusations themselves, but more the fact that for years this guy hasn't changed his stance. He also never brings any more factual data than a simple 1 or 2 hand history/personal account to each argument. I will be blocking his name out of respect for those who can't be here to defend themselves. Here is a recent posting in which he was continuing his accusational, stubborn ways. Also included is a response from Nynus. In one single post, he was actually able to completely 180 my views on people consistently accusing sites like Luvin of being "rigged".....

I seriously just felt the need to give credit where it is due for such an insightful post from Nynus.

    Here goes:

I have played live longer than most of you have been alive. I rarely if ever see cards like those. And if you do, then you are playing at a place that I have no desire to play. It s uncommon for those hands to play out like that live. So, quit telling people they are normal.

XXXX, I've read a lot of your theories, looked thru a lot of your anecdotal 'evidence' and I'm pretty sure I could show you hard statistics, facts, figures, and analysis, until my eyes crossed. But that wouldn't make a dent would it? You hang on to the faith of rigged online poker with a devotion that would make Job himself look wishy washy. If that's your faith, far be it from me to try and convert you.

However, you might want to look at how your preaching might be perceived.

If I've read your posts correctly, you claim that the worst player, with the worst cards always win. Do you realize when you make that claim, you're categorizing many of your friends on this site as shitty players? In your opinion, if someone is making money and win when they play, then they must be playing lousy cards, sucking out, and playing like crap. That's pretty low. I don't even tell people I don't like that they suck at poker.

Then there's an issue of cheating. Have you ever watched an old western and seen how a friendly poker game turns instantly hostile when someone is accused of cheating? Did you ever wonder why?

Because a cheat is the lowest form of life to a real poker player. A player makes his living off of beating other people in a game where their skill is what makes them consistent money. Luck comes and goes, it can give you a bad week or a good one. But it will never pay the bills. Accusing someone of cheating is worse than accusing someone of stealing. You're saying they have no honor, are not be trusted, and don't play an honest game.

Since you're accusing poker sites of cheating, you're accusing the people that run and own those sites of being cheaters. Even worse, you're accusing the people that make money off of those sites of cheating. You're also spreading lies about someone's business because you're telling other potential players that they would be stupid to play where they were getting cheated.

Now I happen to know someone affiliated with Luvin Poker, and to call her a cheat is insulting in the least. Despicable, reprehensible, and irresponsible are some other words that come to mind, along with a few others I won't write here.

Hopefully, you weren't aware that some of your groundless accusations are taken like this by many people. If you were aware of it and doing it anyways, that doesn't say a lot about your character. Maybe this will open your eyes a bit. Maybe not. But it might help you understand why some people don't just laugh off your groundless accusations as the eccentricities of a colorful character.

I'm sure there will be the hue and cry of "He's just having fun." and "He's not hurting anyone."

That's my point. It's not fun; it's not humorous; and it sure as hell isn't harmless. It's insulting to those of us that try to make a living playing the game, and it's pissing on the people that have worked their ass off to give you a fun place to play, learn, and spend time with friends.

Wow Nynus! Putting things in that persepctive does give a whole new outlook on things such as this. I guess bringing individuals who some of us actually know well, and others play with on occasion, changes the rigged lol's to strongly worded public accusations of cheating. Whether or not it actually changes people's personal opinions, your statement brings to light personal feelings towards being called a cheater. I wholeheartedly agree with your entire statement and it has actually changed my point of view on the way I view rigged blogs. Thank you for the post.

I have been playing poker for a couple of years now and sure i have some hands where i was thinking " no way!!!!" But never have i ever felt cheated, bad beats and down swings are just part of it. To be a good all around player i feel like you have to be prepared to take them when they come and move on. I haven't been on LP long, but the players have welcomed me with open arms and i enjoy playing with the regulars. I would never call any of them cheaters or anything of the sort, they are all respectable people that are having fun just like me. LP is my new home for poker and will be from now on because of the great people that are associated with the site and work hard to make sure we have a place to play period. I just wanna say thanks to Nynus, Biggdawwg, Ezzz, Sudden moves, and all the regs i play with weekly for all they do to make it happen.

    Thanks Fishez.

After the little spat I had during the Impromptu, I figured I needed to formalize why the "Ignorant Brotherhood of Riggedness" pisses me off so much.

I don't mind the posts about running bad, getting unlucky, or getting sucked out on. That's part of poker. Everyone has bad beat stories, and sharing them helps mollify the anger. But blaming a site for it is irresponsible and ignorant.

Ask Jen, She convinced me to play that fucked up monstrosity that is the $50 Guarantee last night. It has 25 cent rebuys! If you haven't played it, you can't imagine how absolutely asinine the game is. During the first hour I was so pissed I couldn't see straight. AND I LED MOST OF THE FIRST HOUR.

I saw more shit happen in that first hour than I've seen in the last year of playing poker. I think the only AA I saw win was mine, and I limped then called two all in's a trap attempt. I was up against Q7 suited and A4 suited. But never once did I think that the site was out to get me.

Everything I saw was consistent with four or five players pushing all in with any two cards. HUGE variance, huge chip swings, and incredible suck outs. However, when you pit AA against 3 other random hands, the AA loses more than half the time. That's the reality of poker.

Not so much rigged but I know I already played a against a Chinese bot ... was easy to exploit though since it always used the same betting patterns.

    Ahhhhhhh!

The best part is, I can't even get to the new "rigged" section. That whole area is just a blank page on a Mac running Chrome. I have to start up Firefox or Safari to go look there.

Nynus, thank you for speaking up on this important issue. I've been quite offended by chat comments of rigged games. These comments seem to come most often from relatively new players to the LP community, and this has given an unfortunate taint to the welcoming of new members.

Poor losers. Period. There are some players that tend to go all in with absolute shit in their hand preflop, get called and lose. They still cry rigged when it was a stupid bluff hand that they went in with anyway. I laugh at their nonsense now because they are pathetic.

I ran into a player last night playing Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Split for was running 52% vpip and cried when he bubbled due to a "bad beat" which I gave him....

    four handed 75/150 PLO8

Dude bets 525 UTG I call with AdJd7h2c blinds fold

    Flop: Ah Jc 5d

He min bets (150 into a 1275 pot) so he knows hes probably beat...

I shove and he tanks and calls. As it stands our equity is 87/13 Me according to cardplayer.com

    Turn is a 7d....River is a 5s...
I really don't think people who play with a (at the time of the hand) 60% vpip and 23% pfr with an AF of 3.4 really have a case for crying.
