This happened a few weeks ago, but somehow I forgot about it until recently. This mid-20's guy takes the seat to my right. Just a couple minutes later his friend comes along and the one playing was explaining some fairly basic things about the game (it seemed the friend liked table games, but hadn't played poker in a public setting). So after a few minutes, the one playing gets a bit agitated and points out to his friend a guy at the next table over. "I played with that guy last time and he didn't fold one hand before the flop for an hour and a half. Not one! I got a table change and then like ten minutes later...he got one and ended up at the same table as me again!" He just seemed so upset by it...and I giggled inside.

I once played a limit table where a player raised on EVERY bet for about two hours. He won some huge pots, forced a lot of folds, and took some major hits. All in all, I think he wound up slightly ahead mostly from people going on tilt against him. Either way, people at the table were absolutely flipping out at this guy.

I'd would like to have been able to sit back and know that he was making -EV plays and that I would eventually take his money, but after about 30 minutes I just stopped giving a shit. He was killing the game and it just wasn't fun to play anymore. If I wanted to do something not fun to make money, I would tutor math.

I jumped my own gun! Tonight I was at a table where a guy took this pretty extreme. After EIGHT hands, he got up and requested a table chance! He went on and on about how you can just tell when you're not gettin' the cards. And how he hadn't even gotten a face card "yet" (for the record, he'd called a raise pre-flop and ended up showing down K7 on an Ace-high board in one of his eight hands). I was so sad to see him go.

On the other side of the coin, I saw 12 face cards in my first seven hands two night ago. It was really tough to play those and still maintain credibility at the table. I felt like a complete douche showing my cards after small takedowns, but I couldn't throw away my table image that early.

So it's customary where I play (on the rare occasion when I get to) to "chop" if the hand is folded around through the button (meaning the blinds just take their money back and the hand is over). Not everyone does it, but most do. However, if a table gets short-handed, some people who normally chop choose not to because it becomes too frequent and the house takes less rake (which is a large reason for chopping in the first place). Anyway, so I was playing recently and the table got down to five-handed and someone announced that they don't chop 5-handed. There's a blowhard at the table who rants about it and wonders why people do that. His big conclusion to the rant was, "Why would you not want to chop when there's even LESS money in the pot?" So...when everyone folds, the number of hands dealt in somehow changes the amount in the pot? Really? Interesting.

Its pretty much standard practice here to chop. We don't really decide up front. Both parties look at their cards and one says, "chop?" It always sucks when you look down and have aces in the bb and its only you and the sb.

Almost everyone chops where I play, but there are a few that don't. For the most part, they are known and they never chop. Occasionally someone will want to chop sometimes and not others. They don't get that option with me. Chop or don't (or, like I said before, if you don't when it gets short that's OK). But we're not making the decision based on our cards.

Son of a Bitch................ That was you?

Me and this guy are going at it for like a hour at poker stars, it got so bad i was just waiting for a moderator to come in to stop it. He gets on mamma jokes. The last thing i tell him before he gets put out is "tell your mom to bring me back that change for that quarter and to get her overbite fixed" Im thinking i got the last word in until I check my email later and see that he trasfered a dime to my account, so i guess i did get that change for that quarter

Fun thread....... One of the few I'd read from Start to Finish..............

Just one of those, "Really?" moments. Not sure if it's that funny, but I liked it.

I got a rare chance to play last night and after a 3-bet pre-flop and a check-call from one guy on all three streets, he turns over his pocket 10's and says, "If you've got a bigger pair, you win." Oh yeah? Thanks, man. I had no idea that's how it worked.

During a rare session yesterday, I heard a good one. The guy in the 1-seat limped in, as he did a fair amount. More often than he raised, for sure. So he limps and for maybe the third time over the course of an hour or so, the 2-seat raises over his limp. 1-seat then says, "Man, it's like you have some kind of radar to know when I'm trying to limp." Ummm...yeah...or else he just sees you do it since he acts after you.
