Face the Ace

Did anyone watch this Sat night? I tivoed it and gotta say I really liked it. Its a new show on NBC that probably won't last, but is pretty great. I would recommend watching this Saturday night when Joe Blow is going for a mill.

Here is the lineup:

“Face the Ace” will air this Saturday, August 8th, at 9:00pm ET. Then, it can be seen once per month until January of 2010. Show officials described the first two primetime episodes as an opportunity to “test the waters” for future programming choices. Here’s when you can catch “Face the Ace”:

August 8th, 2009 – 9:00pm ET

September 12th, 2009 – 2:00pm ET

October 31st, 2009 – 3:30pm ET

November 14th, 2009 – 3:00pm ET

December 12th, 2009 – 3:00pm ET

January 2nd, 2010 – 2:30pm ET

I watched it up until Joe Blow knocked out Phil Ivey with the qq vs. A4 hand. The guy gets aces on his first hand, don't remember second hand, then queens third hand and Ivey looked about as interested in playing/winning as the carpet did. The dialogue between the players was horribly boring, and the host sucks. Other than that, it was great.

You are so right! The first guy sucked - took his money and ran. The second guy was awesome and you were totally rooting for him to win. You should have stuck around. He played Lindgren, and Lederer.

Really? Crap. I always do that. Watch 10 minutes of a show then give up. I'll try to check it out next time. thanks,

I liked everything about it (caught the re-run last night) except 2 things - for one, Phil Ivey has absolutely ZERO personality, atleast on camera. He is a skinny, black version of Ben Stein. Secondly, the "host" Steve Schirripa is a complete joke for this show. Why didn't they simply stick with the Poker After Dark crew (since this is NBC)? Not that I think Ali Nejad is amazing or anything, but with that Sopranos guy, I can see how some people wouldn't take the show seriously...
