Well, this is for the 50% that reckon it's funny.

For a couple of years, I have taken "pot shots" at low-medium stake cash games, risking a fair chunk of my bankroll at the given time, testing the waters to see "where I'm at", and to try to build a base to make some serious cash at the tables. I know that there is serious risk by doing this, but to try and build a bank roll from 5-10 cent tables just doesn't work..

Every time I have done this, I have encountered a hand where I am a clear favourite, but lose. Examples are being called all-in preflop holding AA and being called by A rag off, and the mother hits 4 hearts to a straight, or same scenario and my AA gets cracked by JJ KK AK whatever. It always happens without fail.

So, last night I tried for the last time. I buy in for $100 at a 50-1.00 table. Things are going nicely, (Even taking down a couple of nice pots from the red letter pro at the table Eunjong Byun ).

I'm up around $47.00, playing well...

    Then this hand happens:

    Full Tilt Poker Game #28686541209: Table Eckie (6 max) - $0.50/$1 - No Limit Hold'em - 05:22:51 ET - 2011/03/03

I am now convinced that players can be categorised into 3 groups

    1. Shithouse players
    2. Good players who are cursed
    3. Good players who are lucky

I fit categroy 2.. Category 3 are the ones that go on to make millions

I have decided to give up poker.. Last night was the last straw

In between short runs of extraordinary luck I always get that sort of crap on hands that matter. I have noticed the "luck" in cash games seem to favour the small stack, whilst in tourneys its skewed towards the bigger stacks. Have you noticed that??

You hit the nail on the head with your "hands that matter" comment funky. Yes, agree with the comment on tourneys, but in cash (when it comes to me) bigger stack, smaller stack doesn't matter. I get reamed up the ass

Remember Suthernstyle? She warned me a long time ago about going all-in against a bigger stack in tourneys. Wish I'd taken her advice more often!

I don't think you would of folded him after the flop, as he had a K, even tho his spades were weak. Curious why you checked there Stevie. I do believe the outcome would of been the same.

    That really sucks Stevie...

I could have played the hand 2 ways.

    1. I could have flat called his opening raise, then led into him with a "donk" bet (probably pot sized), which hopefully would have been seen as an action to buy the pot.

    2. I elected to re-raise to get some money into the pot (and to get some read on the strength of his hand). The flop hit well for me, so my check was a signal that I had missed, and was hoping he bet so I could re-raise.

Didn't like his check behind me, so led into him on the turn. I agree at the end of the day he probably would have called an all-in anywhere from the flop to the river

Too bad you had to play the big hand against a Shithouse player...your check on the Flop gave him the Turn card he needed for an open-ended straight draw and players like him will go All-In on a draw.
