Savannah had a great point, you cannot talk on your cell while playing a hand. some casinos make you leave the table to even answer your phone....

While that might be true, we aren't talking about live play. We are talking about the convenience of online play, where I can answer my phone during a hand and have an entire conversation while playing. I don't have to wear sunglasses to hide my face. Hell, I don't even have to have clothes on while playing. The point is, there are a lot of things out of our control in online play and you can do a lot more things while playing online vs playing live.

Are you aware that you can find websites where you can "hire" people to do this very thing for a percentage of your winnings? I had to laugh when I saw first saw it, but I have seen it.

The reason I think it's a good point, is because I'd say the "punishment" should be lessened if the coach wasn't playing. I think the level of cheating goes down a bit when the other person isn't playing because they aren't colluding.

So.... cheating "a little bit" deserves a lesser punishment?

Oh, I'm not shocked in the slightest... Hell, a part of Me expects it in every game I play online, even with players I "trust" but it's still cheating and it's still wrong, and it should NOT be tolerated... You know, if the online poker community spent more time worrying about issues like THIS, and MUCH LESS time worrying about what we're talking about in the public forums, I'd put more of My bankroll online...

Honestly though, how do they control it?? Players are going to do whatever they want regardless of the rules, because no one can catch them (if they are smart enough - which we all know most people aren't). You can write the rule down all you want... they can't see you to prove you did anything. Hell, that entire conversation could have been made up (I know it's not in this instance.... just saying it can be).

I wasn't aware it'd gotten that bad, again, it doesn't shock Me... So WHY are some people so worried about our sex forums, and NOT making the airing of THAT information public?

I don't see it as colluding IF he wasn't playing. I see it as a little sneaky, but I'm seriously doubting ANYONE on this site could coach me better than I already play. So, I don't see it as them having any advantage whatsoever on me.

Personally I find the last line of the first post amusing

Wasn't the "coach" telling this person how to play? .. so if he wasn't aggressive enough who's fault is it? lol

I've proven cases of online and by phone credit card fraud while I was working retail LP in stores so crappy I literally had to sort through boxes of old register journal tapes by hand... Where there's a will to prosecute, and there's an ACTUAL breach of the rules, there's a way...

Well, I keep reading in all the death penalty threads here that giving the death penalty to someone is awful when evidence could be tampered with, DNA results are questionable, yada yada. So, give THEM the benefit of the doubt and let them live, but bury the bastards who hire a coach to help them in online poker.

I agree, this is why I don't see it as much of an advantage either ... I am confident in my game, I don't care if he has 4 people telling him how to play against me.
