Too tough - Comedy I have to go with Steve Martin, Robin WIlliams, but the original Charlie Chaplin was a GOD and set the foundation.
I respect many talented actors for the various challenging roles they have portrayed, but consistency wise I would have to go with Tom Hanks, Martin Sheen, Jimmy Stewart, Robert Deniro, Duvall, Pacino, Meryl Streep, Daniel Day Lewis, Anthony Hopkins, Susan Sandon, Bogie, Hepburn (Audrey and Kate) Gary Oldman. There are many others from the new generation who I think have chops, but only the test of time will cement it.
^^^Haha, you asked for one. Impossible for me. I worked in the industry my whole life and see 90% of what is out. Film is total escapism for me. Can't pick one. lol

I have not seen him lately, but I would have to say Lou Diamond Phillips or maybe Matthew Modine.

I really liked Charles Bronson and John Wayne now Morgan Freeman
Edward Norton. No question. I think the guy is an amazing actor.
One is too difficult, but if I had to choose one it would be Gregory Peck.
I really enjoy Cary Grant, Gary Sinise, Robin Williams, John Malkovich, James Mason and so many more.
Not to mention Kate Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Rosemary Clooney.
