What is the best concert you've ever been to?

Doesn't even have to be your favorite group, just the concert that rocked your socks off. For me, the best concert I ever saw was a fluke that I wouldn't have bought a ticket for- too mainstream music for me, but a friend had an extra ticket and begged, so I went. I'm so glad I did. He put on one hell of a show - I've seen more concerts than I can begin to count, and this was far and beyond the best.

    John Cougar Mellencamp
    Scarecrow Tour

Paul McCartney was amazing. Loved when Billy Joel and Elton John Piano Men Tour. MJ's Victory tour still stands out in my mind.

Since I'm old and don't go to things that involve crowds anymore, my favs were from the 70's. Here are three that I'll always remember...

1972-Rainbow Ballroom, Waterloo, IA.-Opening act, unknown group...ZZ top, headliner act...Blue Oyster Cult. Only about 40 people showed up because of a snow storm, and the groups were sitting at tables with us stoking it up.

1972-DesMoines, IA.-We BOOOED the opening act because no one had ever heard of them...Fleetwood Mac. Headliner act...Deep Purple, I had taken two hits of purple haze to get in the proper mood...lol.

1973-Chicago-small bar...Opening Act/Hookfoot...2nd Act/Focus...Headliner/Foghat...It was a great concert with only about 1500 people, people outside Rush street were burning cars because they couldn't get in, I was so fucked up when we left I ended up in Wisconson trying to get back to Iowa...YIKES!

I have seen so many awesome shows, it is hard to pick one. I did see that Mellencamp show. LOL..he split the ass of his pants wide open.

I was very lucky to see Led Zepplin 1977 the light show was incredible.

Pink Floyd was another show I will never forget. There were medic tents set up inside of Market Square Arena, I think the entire crowd was on Mushrooms or LSD...Including myself!

Eurythmics in Toronto, will never forget that one.

The loudest show I have seen is a tie between Collective Soul and Molly Hatchet'.
The most Spiritual Show I have seen was recenly India Arie.
The most Fun was String Cheese Incident Halloween Show in Madison, WI

Hard to pick the BEST because I've been to a lot of great shows, and I've called them great for A LOT of different reasons...

I mean, when I was about 11, (I'm guessin) I got to see Milli Vanilli, not sing... live... sorta... right before the scandal hit..

There was the White Zombie / Filter concert here in Savannah, where I picked up a beer laced with GOD knows what, but I was awake and freaking out for 20 hours after that ... and that was at the END of the concert... That was about 98.

Elton John Billy Joel Piano Men tour was amazing, totally chill show (I actually took My Mom to that one) which I really loved.

But I think IF I HAD to pick, I'd go with the wildest show I've ever been to, which was Ozzfest 2000 at The Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta...

SOME of the highlights for Me included....

    1. No outside water allowed in the venue
    2. Beer cheaper then bottled water
    3. All day show
    4. In Atlanta 95 degree heat...
    5. Bad drinking judgment...
    6. Overcrowded mist machines
    7. One of the most violent pits I've ever been in. (during Pantera's set... thought My arm was broken by the time it was over...)
    8. Kittie SUCKED live...
    9. Got to meet Tommy Lee
    10. Was subsequently told by Tommy Lee "Fuck off, fuckin asshole" for making the joke "If I had THAT thing between My legs, I wouldn't be wasting My time with this Methods of Mayhem shit."
    11. Was a little pissed I didn't get punched by Tommy Lee, it would have been worth the story...
    12... OH yeah OZZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah... By the time Ozzy went on stage I'd passed out twice, the bleeding had stopped only because there was no fluid left in My body, and people were starting bonfires... Ozzy actually STOPPED the show at one point to tell people to chill the hell out... and actually threatened to stop the show if everyone didn't...

You KNOW it's a wild time when Ozzy is telling people to chill...

As much as I LOVED it at the time... I wouldn't do that shit today if you PAID ME!!!
Good luck, Be well, and see ya'll round,
    D

In 1984 I saw Rail (they won the very first MTV basement tapes) and Quiet Riot.

I live in the midst of ongoing concert venues (50 mile radius) of Ozzfest and Methods of Mayhem that happen at the (used to be) Glen Helen Pavilion, Coachella...a 3 day festival, the Hollywood Bowl, Verizon Ampitheater in Irvine and several more that are close by....and yet I havent been to any. I just dont do big crowds.

But however back in 86....I did see the Girls Girls Girls tour (Motley Crue) in Knoxville, TN where the opening act was none other than the beginning of Guns n Roses
