Remembering Loved Ones

This time of year is always rough on those of us who are left behind. 2010 was an especially hard pill to swallow for me. In May I lost a wonderful friend with whom I attended grad school and worked with for nearly 20 years. Just before Thanksgiving I lost a dear friend who shall always remain in my heart and on my mind. Here is another Willie song dedicated to a "gentle soul."

My mom died 15 years ago on Nov 1 and not a day goes by that i don't want to call her up and have a chat. She was 65 when she died of ovarian cancer. She had me when she was 20 so i had a very young mom and she was my pal. At her memorial I played Johnny Mathis songs because he was her very favorite. When I want to talk to her I don't go to her grave, I go to her stool at the casino in the mountains near here and I remember how much fun we always had together.

Very nice thread. And yes its nice to have memories . I lost my dad over 7 years ago,and my mother 4 years on my birthday. She is always remembered, on that special day, guess it lands on mothers day every four years. I lost my grandmother a year today,and she is very missed. I was very close to her. But looking back at memories is good. Thanks again for this thread.
