Remembering Loved Ones

I know this time of year is to be Joyful and Merry, but I, like I'm sure most of you, cope with some sadness for the loss of loved ones. I suppose it feels worse at this time of year, because it is in such contrast to the overall cheerfulness everywhere you turn.

So, I thought I'd start a holiday memorial thread. Please feel free to add a note about your loved one, and any poem or song you'd like in dedication to them if you have one.

My husband Mike passed away 2 years ago after a 5 month battle with cancer. We were married for 24 years. It's still pretty raw, although I'm not a total basket case, nor non-functioning, but I am certainly sad in between the happies. I recently found the following song/video and it really spoke to me.

Willie was Mike's favorite and this song is one of mine.

I have missed my mom every day for the past 14 years and even more during the holidays when there is so much joy in love and family. I keep her memory close to my heart. Love and peace to all my friends at Luvin Poker who have lost their loved ones. xoxo

such a wonderful thread beth--lost a neice over thanksgiving and youngest bro over christmas (years ago) but each holiday i think of all the wonderful things they both brought into my life--the joy , the laughter and it brings me a smile. thank you for sharing kind woman-ur so very special-hugs

I'm sitting here staring at this thread lost in thought of the loving memories of Christmas's past with my family. My parents have been gone 25+ years now and it only seems like a few since we had all been together in our family home. It makes me sad that John never met them but it also makes me very happy that he was able to meet my brother Mike before his life was taken from us.

My mom passed away Dec.20th 1992 and we buried her on the 23rd.Marvin, the man I used to care for died last year on Dec.27th.I cared for him for about 14 years.This time of year is very sad for me and my sister.She is blind and slightly challenged.She takes it a little harder than me.She and Marvin were close friends
