Shorter blinds means you have to play a wider range, maximize your position, and play poker. Longer blinds means you can wait around for big hands to shove with.

online, longer blinds don't necessarily translate to better poker
If im at a table full of nits, i'll glady steal there blinds for hours with little risk. I know personaly I do alot better in longer super stack tournaments. Helps me alot, anyways im thrilled

Curt the levels are not longer, they added more levels. I tend to agree with Joel. With more levels you can play more hands also imo. The bad players tend to wanna race often. When the blinds get high so fast it forces you into racing when they are pushing constantly. More blind levels gives me more time to gain a decent stack also. Hopefully gaining a large enough stack to have some players covered when the blinds get really high and everyone is pushing. A loss won't take me out of the game then. If you look at the starting stack of the Thurs game and events, they start them with 2500 chips. We did that because the blind levels raised so fast and the quality of play was down. It felt like turbo poker. In team we use to start with 2500. I suspect some people complained about the length of the games so they lowered the stack to 2k. I am willing to bet it was our resident herd members also!!

I know they added levels, not lengthened them, but if you look at my comment, I quoted Joel where he said "longer blinds" not "more levels"

I made a mistake. Mastro starts most events with a 5k starting stack.

Im of the personal opinion that these micro game private tourneys and special events should run their course in about two hours. You can play a decent game in that type of structure, there is no need to drag a $1 game with 8 or 9 players out for three hours.

if it's a big mtt with a lot of players and a lot of money on the line, then I would agree with longer blinds and smaller increases.

Oh lol I suggested that the $25 buyin $2500 guarantee on Saturday would get more players if the blinds didn't start at 50. The game has late registration until the SECOND break. What retard would buyin for a 5k stack for $25 when the blinds are nearly 1k already? lol I was told they wouldn't change the blind structure because the game had 20min levels. So I guess I agree with you in the fact that the longer levels really don't make the game any better. Especially when they start the blinds at 50. lol IMO if the blinds started out lower more players would buyin later getting the game closer to covering the guarantee.

This is a simple one. It doesn't matter how many levels there are, it just makes the game longer. The situation with more levels depends on how quick the blinds increase, 8 minutes you best build a decent stack fairly quick/early if possible. If you hit a cold streak your going to be forced to 3 bet out of position even if you don't have pockets to do so . 10 - 12 minute blinds you can play your normal game. BUT, you'll still have to build a decent stack. Skill is not going to be the objective, position / Strategy will be most imortant as the blinds increase from level 12 and on, along with some luck.
So, what I'm trying to say is that the amount of levels doesn't matter, it comes down to how many pots you can rake from level 12 til the final table then we have to bring in skill also , See as many flops as possible with quality pockets and become more aggressive. Stay ahead of the levels ; keep up with the blinds; mix it up; play the player and bring home the WIN !!! and t
