How can this anger you peeps so much when millions of unwanted and lost pets are euthanized in the US annually

I did not want to watch the video and not saying it is right, but the old way of pet euthanasia is in burlap sack with some big rocks, and then into the river.

They would not suffer any more than at the vets....and those puppys will inhale one gasping breath of water and be gone.

It is a sad state that someone would film it and put it on the net

As sad as it is euthanizing unwanted pets, it's at least a humane way to kill them. We don't throw the animals in rivers and over cliffs to kill them.

Errm I have to strongly disagree - this is a heartless way to do away with unwanted pets and I think the girl should be punished.

Euthanasia - lets look at it shall we:

I have to somewhat defend what fubber is saying. Although I do strongly disagree with the video being made as to glorify the situation. Euthanasia is NOT always as humane as you all may think. My first job out of high school was at a animal control business. I patrolled and went on calls to pick up stray animals people had found. Starting out I was lowest on the totem poll and had to care for the animals also. Feeding, cleaning the dog kennels and cat cages etc. After ten days with nobody calling to pick them up many would be put to sleep. This was Monday mornings. Soooooooooooo after the animals gained my trust I feeding them etc. I then got to walk them down the aisle to the awaiting vet. Some dogs had NO clue what was going to happen. While others damn well knew trying to pull away from me when they saw the pile of dogs laying there. I teared up the first time I did it. The vet said it would get easier. But it never really did. If the vet is good dogs are usually pretty humane. Unless he misses the vain. Cats are a different story!! It is nearly impossible to hold a cat and find a vein!! So the vet grabs the cat and trys to jab the needle in its heart. Even with a direct hit the cat flurries around in the cage for minutes. A non heart hit with the needle can cause death to be delayed much much much longer. I guarantee a drowning would finish them off far faster. Every Monday I was given a list of which animals to have killed. I began to claim certain puppies had been put down when I had let them live. To then TRY and give them away to people that came after hours to pick up there dog we had picked up. Eventually the numbers from the company that picked up the dead dogs did not match up with the numbers they had told me to put down. So I was terminated!! I also let some cats that had front claws out the back door!! lol I had brought in many groups of puppies with various sicknesses. They would shit blood in there kennel. Then it would spread rampant throughout the kennels. These puppies needed to be put down immediately. I found a link of the same video with a apology and her reason for doing what she did. I still do not agree with the video and throwing them in. It would of been far more humane to put them in a bag and submerge them. That is if they were as sick as she claimed. The one puppy she said weeeeee as she threw it. That showed her immaturity clearly. But was apart of far worse at the shelter watching the dogs shit and piss all over the place when they got put down. Then I had to carry them to a cooler and throw them in like garbage!! It amazes me animal control business like that are allowed to operate. But it is the cities that employ them. I saved what animals I could sneaking them out the back door. But in the end it cost me my job. I would drive by some of the houses I had given dogs to. Hoping to get a glimpse of them at times. Seeing them made me feel less guilty about what I had been apart of. IMO if the puppies were too sick to cure they needed to die. Throwing them in the river would not of been my choice method. Putting them in a sac and submerging them would of been the way to go if they could not afford the vet. Farmers have cats on the farm. They breed like rabbits. If they can't give them away to other farmers or friends. They'll walk around with a shotgun and lower the population. When Mary finds a hurt or dead animal and gets upset. I explain to her how death is apart of nature. Its the same thing with the puppies. I just don't condone the glorification of killing them and putting that bs on U-tube.
