I think this is going to wind up being really bad news. Obama's primary problem is that he is being saddles with ridiculous expectations, and now he has to live up to this.

This whole thing really makes Obama look silly, in my opinion. It's almost like the Nobel people stabbed him in the back with this award.

^^^^The above 2 statements very true that's why it's a wonder he accepted the award, couldn't be an ego thing, could it? His military commanders want more troops in Afghanistan, he's stated the war is necessary, will the 'peace' prize cloud his decisions?

There have often been criticisms of the award of Nobel prizes, and not just for peace: some who have won the prize for literature over the years (and, more to the point, some who haven't) beggar belief. But the sheer preposterousness of this smug and pompous organisation can seldom have been thrown into greater relief than in the award of the peace prize to Barack Obama, who is currently leading a nation that is prosecuting a very nasty war in Afghanistan. The reasons given for the award – to do with international co-operation and cutting nuclear arms – are absurd. I think I know why he has won. He has made such a mess of the US economy that America soon won't be able to afford any armed forces at all. (Simon Heffer)

Obama could not have turned down the award... that would have been a political nightmare. He did the smartest thing he could have which was be shocked and humbled and not really talk about it.

More of a political nightmare to accept it. How come it's such a 'prestigious' award when won by an American? It's picked by a 5 man committee ( would you recognise any names on this committee who pick the receipent for this prestigious award) I put a list of previous winners of this award, how many non-Americans (apart from Mandela and Arafat) did you recognise? Did Al Gore deserve it ? what's he done for peace? Kissinger? The award is a joke, if it had been awarded to somebody who deserved it , be a couple of lines at the bottom of a page.
